Constance V. Alongi, aka "Connie", was laid to rest by her immediate family on September 7 alongside her spouse in a private mausoleum ceremony. Retired Fr. John Pringle officiated by way of Bridgewater Funeral Home. Born Concetta Giarratano in Manhattan, Connie resided in New Jersey as an Independent Education Management Professional and former Editor for Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, NY, NY. She held a BA in English and French from Montclair Teachers' College where she met her husband of 50 years, Carlo J. Alongi Jr. (of Spitaleri Furniture which operated in South River, NJ for 150 years) and she received her MA from Rutgers University. Constance was the Reading Coordinator for the New Brunswick Title I Program within the State of New Jersey Education Department and the President/Editor of New Jersey Reading Teachers' Association and Journal. She is survived by her children Amanda Alongi Goodman, Carolyn Mari Alongi McDonough, and Carlo Christopher, and her cherished granddaughters, Rachel Lee Goodman, Michaela Claire Goodman, and Acacia "Casey" Valentyne McDonough. Adored by her sons-in-law, Peter S. Goodman, Esq., Brian P. McDonough, and multiple nephews and nieces, Connie was the sole survivor of ten siblings. She spent the last few months of life at ALL AMERICAN Assisted Living in Hillsborough, NJ, a place she loved.
