Constance Haas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 22, 2011.
Constance J. Haas died peacefully on February 19, 2011. She was born on June 15, 1924 in Massillon, OH to Frederick and Ellen Swisher. In high school, Connie played the clarinet in the marching band, and met her future husband at a band competition at Kent State University. She joined the Navy and became a Y3rd Class. She served in Washington D.C., and was once served dinner by Bess Truman. On February 17, 1946 she married Clarence H. Haas Jr. They had 2 children, and moved to Phoenix for their daughters' health in 1954. Connie worked for 15 years for J.C. Penney's, and made many lifelong friendships while there. She loved to sew, knit, crochet and needlepoint. We all have many beautiful "works of love" to remember her by. She was predeceased by her husband and 3 sisters. She is survived by her daughter Ellen (Tom), son Skip (Deb), 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Rd., Phoenix, on Friday, February 25th at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
