Constance Hagee

Constance N. Hagee Constance "Connie" Anne Newman Hagee, 57, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Ray Bolen and Don Stansell officiating. She was born Oct. 28, 1952, in Wythe County, daughter of the late Dr. James Madison and Constance Mosler Newman. She was a special education teacher for 27 years in Wythe and Bland county schools. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, friend and an avid animal lover. She is survived by her husband, James Edward Hagee; children, Kirk and Amy Phillippi, Sally and Chip Dunford, Todd and Teresa Hagee, Brian and Jessie Hagee; grandchildren, Lynsey Phillippi, Reed Phillippi, Molly Dunford and Regan Hagee; and a sister, Barbie Newman Hunter of Asheville, N.C. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Jean K. Lester, 430 W. Washington St., Wytheville, VA 24382.
