Constance Welch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 14, 2021.
Constance L. Belisle Welch of Merrimack NH passed away on February 6, 2021 at her home. She was born in Manchester, NH on October 13, 1944. She is the daughter of the late Roland and Yva Belisle. She is the beloved wife of John J. Welch, the mother of Karen Butterfield and her husband Daniel of Merrimack, NH, her son Kevin Welch of Merrimack, NH, grandmother to Kailee Goodale Belanger, Katelyn Goodale, Jessica Butterfield, Timothy Butterfield, Kevin Welch Jr, David Butterfield, and Kyla Welch, and great grandmother to 8 great grandchildren. In addition, Connie is survived by her sister Patrica Roy, her only sibling.

Connie grew up on the west side of Manchester, NH and attended West High School. While attending school, she worked her first job at the Manchester Shoe Shop where she met her husband of 56 years. They have been together since the age of 16 and she knew they would be inseparable. Connie graduated in 1963 and shortly after she got married on April 11, 1964.

Connie and her husband moved to Topeka, Kansas when her husband was stationed at Forbes Airforce Base. She became a mother to her daughter, Karen Welch. After her husband was honorably discharged from the service, they moved back to their hometown to be reunited with family. She became a mother once again to her son Kevin Welch. Her family moved to Merrimack, NH to raise their growing family where they still reside to this day.

Connie worked for Ammons Electronics and after for New England Circuits until the company shut down. She used this opportunity to work with children as an in-home childcare provider for over 12 years before officially retiring.

Connie and her husband used this time to travel to places they've always dreamed of, her favorites being Hawaii and Bermuda. When she wasn't traveling, she often stayed with her family in California. Connie's passion was her family. She loved to take photos, play games, and cook for them any chance she could. She also enjoyed writing letters and recipes for her family and friends.

Connie's wishes were to share these words from a poem of remembrance, "Speak of me as you have always done. Remember the good times, laughter, and fun." There are no services or calling hours at this time.

My Grammy was always telling me how much she loved me and how excited she was that my mom moved here from California to be with the whole family. She was always telling me about the day she first saw me when my mom walked down the stairs and surprised her with me in her arms. I will cherish the memories I got to have with you and know that you will always be remembered through us. We love you forever

Grammy, you will always be my best friend. We shared so many memories during my childhood I will never forget. I will remember the times you would visit and you would share the bed with me as you told me stories and sang lullabies. You always seemed to have hot flashes at night and would ask me to fan you with a card which I still have to this day. You made me laugh, feel loved, and never forgotten. You made me feel I could never disappoint you. You were always so proud of me and told me so much that you were proud of all my accomplishments no matter how big or small. I looked forward when you would send me letters with stickers or pictures when you were away as it was hard when you were gone. Your pictures are what keep me still going now that you won’t be able to take anymore. I will miss our times in the kitchen as we loved to make crepes together. Even after all this time I still can’t make them with the same crispy edge as you. We both enjoy cooking for sure and sharing recipes of new things to try. I love you so much and I will keep your memory alive everyday as I will pass down your stories, lullabies, letters, pictures, recipes, and your love. Thank you for being there for me Grammy and I won’t forget “I love you more than all the stars in the sky”

Grammy and I always had a special relationship, she was my partner in crime when it came to decorating and the holidays. We both had an immense love for Halloween and I believe it was her who passed down the love for decorating. She wrote me letters my whole life and during trying times wrote me double. She was the woman I told everything first to and always got so excited to share news with. All my life I turned to you. I love you so much and not a day will go by that I won't. I promise never to pass the chance to decorate, to cook a new recipe or to tell someone I love them.

Grampy, I love you.
Mom and Uncle Kevin, I love you.
Grammy was such a special woman and nobody will ever replace her.

John, Connie was such an incredible friend. I will miss her letters, recipes and phone calls. As much as it hurts to have lost her, it helps to know that she is finally free of pain. May she rest in peace. Our prayers are with you and your family.
