Constantine Gekas Obituary
Born on March 4, 1936, in Harrisburg, Pa., he was the son of the late William G. and Mary Touloumes Gekas, and widower of Dimitra K. Gekas.
He retired as a school principal for Central Dauphin school district and was a former executive director of the Order of AHEPA, Washington. He was currently working as a driving school educator and manager for the Frederick Branch of Greg's Driving School.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where he was a past president of the church board and former choir director. He was a graduate of William Penn High School, class of 1954; Shippensburg, and Lehigh University, and was an avid New York Yankees fan.
He is survived by his wife, Melanie Dorn Gekas; four daughters, Smyra C. Gekas, Valerie E. Caggiano and her husband James A., Elizabeth D. Gekas, and Alexandra J. Gekas; his sister, Helen Smirlis; his brother, George W. Gekas; and several nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1000 Yverdon Dr., Camp Hill. Burial will be in East Harrisburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation of Central Pennsylvania, 5405 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
