Consuelo "Connie" Chavez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 20 to Mar. 22, 2023.
A beloved wife, mother, and servant of God, Connie passed away with grace and peace at home on Friday, March 10, 2023. Connie was born on May 2, 1935, in Ocotlan, Mexico, to Carmen and Sireno Estrada with a loving spirit and contagious smile.

Connie attended elementary and high school in Mexico and came to Oxnard as a teen when she met her soulmate and the love of her life for 65 years, Alfred John Chavez. They had 14 children.

Connie first worked as a singer and as a teen, she worked on a farm where she met Alfred Chavez. She also worked as a seamstress and as a Head Chef at St. Catherine By the Sea Convent. She connected to so many with her bright, beautiful smile, loving charisma, and classy style.

Connie's love for God guided her to a life of irreplaceable duty and service to the Catholic faith and community at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. She was a Eucharistic Minister, Catechism Teacher, Usher, a Member of Apostolado de la Oraci?n/Spiritual Prayer Group, and a Member of Apostolado de la Cruz/Women's Mission Group. Through the decades, she supported church fundraisers and various church events. She gave tirelessly as a Spiritual Leader to countless families with prayer during a life crisis, end of life, and after death. Through God's grace, Connie gave faith, hope, love, and peace.

At home, Connie made any visitor feel welcomed as part of the Chavez Family. She enjoyed reading daily, cooking from scratch and visiting with cousins. Most of all, Connie loved family time and always had her door open. Her faith, love, and strength are the pillars of her lifelong journey and legacy. Her final words were always: Que Dios te Bendiga - May God Bless You. We are blessed to have her in our life, she will be greatly missed.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred Chavez, and sons Oswald and Edward Chavez. She is survived by her 12 children, 42 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 14 step-grandchildren. She adored each and every one.
