Cora Hendrix

Cora Derouen Hendrix, age 82 of Grand lake passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, December 15, 2014.
Cora was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family very much. Prior to marriage she was employed by Bell Telephone Company as an operator. She loved the family get-togethers and loved taking lots of pictures.
Cora was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole until Hurricane Rita relocated her to Grandlake. She is currently a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Mary Olive #1463 where she held numerous positions.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles from 4:00PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary at 6:30PM. The visitation will continue on Thursday at the funeral home at 8:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Christ the King Catholic Church, Thursday at 10:30AM. Burial will follow at Grand lake Community Cemetery in Sweet Lake.
She is survived by her children; Renee' Hendrix of El Sobrante', CA, Terry Hendrix & wife Debbie of Carlyss, Tamara Nunez of Grandlake, Craig Hendrix & wife Gerri of Grandlake, Holly La Jaunie & husband Perry of Creole, one sister, Clara Belle Henry, and one brother, Buddy Derouen, both of Fannette, Texas.
She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren with 4 more great-grandchildren on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years; E. R. Hendrix, parents; O.J. and Clara Derouren, and a sister; Earline Ferguson.
