Cory Price, 44, passed away May 5th, 2025, in
Calhan, Colorado. His sudden and unexpected departure leaves a deep ache in the hearts of those who know and love him.
Known for his selfless generosity, Cory would help anyone in need, often buying, repairing, and giving cars to those without transportation, expecting nothing in return. No matter what challenges he faced in his own life, that never stopped him from helping others. He was an exceptionally likable person - calm, collected, and even-tempered. He rarely got upset about anything and never deliberately caused harm to others, which made him beloved by all who knew him. Cory had a tremendous amount of dignity and carried himself with very high standards, whether in his professional or personal life. He showed great respect for both himself and others, rarely speaking ill of anyone. His love for people and the world was genuine and encompassing, accepting everyone regardless of who they were. He moved through the world with impeccable manners that he acknowledged were shaped in part by his grandparents' teachings, practicing these courtesies religiously throughout his life no matter the situation.
He shared an extraordinary bond with his father-in-law David, forming an immediate close relationship from the moment they met 13 years ago. Their connection grew through working on cars together, traveling to Nebraska and many other places, and sharing similar career paths and daily interests. Their special bond, built on mutual respect and genuine friendship, will never be forgotten. With his mother-in-law Debbie, Cory shared a relationship that brought peace to both their lives. They enjoyed each other's company and their long talks, serving as each other's calm in life's storms. One particularly cherished memory was a Halloween when Cory's artistic skills came to life as he created the coolest pumpkin, laughing more heartily than Debbie had heard in a long time-a moment she will never forget. To Lindsay's brother, Cory was like a brother himself - always kind, patient, teaching, and never judging.
Cory was a devoted family man who brought his three children-Michael, Logan, and Hollie-into a blended family with Lindsay's children Kyleigh and River. He developed a unique and special bond with each of his five children, loving and appreciating their individual personalities. He taught them valuable life lessons, whether helping with schoolwork, guiding them through problems with friends, or offering wisdom about life in general. He was incredibly proud of every single one of them and constantly encouraged them to do their best no matter what challenges they faced. He came into Lindsay's life and opened her up to love again after a difficult marriage, telling her, "I will be here to help you heal your wings and teach you how to fly again," and that is exactly what he did.
For the past thirteen years, Cory shared a special meaningful bond and committed relationship with Lindsay and they vowed to always be by each other's side through the good and the bad-a relationship that also embraced Lindsay's parents and brother. Cory had many close friends and he often spoke about many memories with each one of them and genuinely enjoyed the time and the memories he made throughout the years. That made his journey that much more special. He appreciated every single one of his friends throughout the years and genuinely cared deeply for each of them.
A graduate of Woodland Park High School, Cory carved out a dynamic path through hard work and ingenuity. He was an accomplished professional with extensive training and certifications. His impressive credentials included Fracturing Operations, Class A CDL with Hazmat, OSHA Oil and Gas Certificate, Crane Operator, Ariel Man Lift Certified, Back Safety Certified, Certified Rigger for Crane Operations, Emergency Response Certified, Forklift Certified, Basic Offshore Training, Fall Protection Trained for Elevated Work, Asbestos Awareness and Abatement, and Confined Space Trained. He was OPEC Certified and Trained in Containment Installation.
His professional career spanned decades in both oil field operations and construction. As a Fracking Supervisor for Performance Technologies/Chesapeake Energy, he led crews of up to 20 men, ensuring smooth operations and minimal downtime. His leadership extended to positions at Weatherford Fracturing Technologies as Field Operations Supervisor, Armada Pressure Control as Field Supervisor, and Halliburton Energy Services where he rose from Operator Assistant to Service Supervisor III through multiple promotions. In these roles, he coordinated and led FRAC crews for multi-million dollar jobs with companies including Whiting, Hess, Brigham, Conoco-Phillips and other major operations. He expertly operated specialized equipment including Quinplex 225QHP FRAC, TRIPLEX Skid Pumps, and 1000HP TIPLEX FRAC Pumps.
While at Halliburton, Cory served as lead superintendent specializing in oil drilling and fracking operations. Later, while working with GE Johnson, he developed an innovative overhead trash dumpster system that would fly over construction job sites - a really cool invention that was implemented at the Broadmoor Hotel. This creative solution showcased his ability to solve complex problems in practical ways.
In construction, he served as Lead Framer at Stauffer and Sons Construction from 2003-2008, building multi-million dollar custom homes, and as Lead Carpenter at MJP Construction from 1999-2003, where he was responsible for entire custom home building projects from foundation to completion. His hands were always busy-whether constructing decks with Mtn Handyman or pursuing one of his many inventive projects.
Cory had an entrepreneurial spirit, founding CHL Construction and Mountain Handyman Services from scratch with Lindsay. Starting with no money, they built these businesses into successful operations that thrived for many years.
Cory's mind was ever curious and SO brilliant. He knew the answer to everything - what everything was, where it belonged, where it was needed in industries, and where it was used. It didn't matter what the subject was, he knew the answer. He was incredibly intelligent, always loved a challenge, and never gave up learning or trying to make things better. He had a passion for improving the world around him-working on cars to enhance their performance, crafting projects infused with epoxy, and submitting ideas for innovation. He had to know how things worked and how he could make them better for the world. He filed multiple non-provisional patents with the USPTO hoping to be able to fully patent his ideas in the future, showcasing his creative mind and desire to better the world. Among his creations, his handcrafted Bronco signs and Colorado signs stood as symbols of both his creativity and personal flair. Since 2015 one of Cory's talented projects (a refinished park bench) is showcased at the Woodland Park Senior Center in front of the building that he refinished and painted and designed with the Colorado sign. Cory also came up with the idea for a Colorado flag overlay that you now see on Subaru emblems, after putting the first one he designed on his Ford truck, back in 2014.
Cory loved working on cars and studied Automotive Technology at Pikes Peak Community College. He discovered remarkable artistic talents in woodworking, epoxy projects, and drawing in recent years. He had a profound appreciation for nature, finding peace and joy in the beauty of sunrises and sunsets. His love for animals was evident in the care and affection he showed to all creatures. Cory was a person of value with a leader mindset. No matter what struggles he faced, he maintained his discipline and positive outlook - always up early, showering and getting ready for the day even if it wasn't going to be a very good one. He dreamed of starting a company to employ and train homeless individuals, reflecting his lifelong commitment to helping others. Whenever he could, he would try to help homeless people or people who are less fortunate regardless of his personal challenges.
Despite recent challenges that he fought like hell to overcome, he remained caring and appreciative to those closest to him. Regardless of his personal struggles, he never failed to appreciate those who had supported him through life's harshest trials, standing by him without judgment or demands-merely offering comfort and a sanctuary he could call home, particularly during these last few years.
Faith anchored Cory throughout his life. As a Christian, he drew strength from his beliefs and carried them with quiet conviction.
He held deep love for his children-Michael, Hollie, Logan, River, and Kyleigh-and often expressed a sincere wish for more time together. Cory's life was complete when all his kids surrounded him and were together. He also held deep love for his parents, brother, sister, and many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. He is survived by his five children; spouse Lindsay Olah; his parents Robert Price and Marjorie Senior; his siblings Lisa Price and Malcolm Price (wife Jen Price), brother in law Jarod Koscielecki and mother in law Debbie Koscielecki; and extended family on both parents sides as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Cory's beautiful blue eyes, contagious laugh, amazing smile, love and dedication to life, and his daily motivations will be remembered always. His spirit remains etched in the lives he touched and his legacy will be carried forward through those who loved him dearly, especially his children whom he created everlasting memories with and was so proud of each and everyone of them. May Cory Price's memory live on in every bit of curiosity and spark of invention, every act of dedication, and every connection he nurtured, as well as in his endless desire to help others in need, and most importantly his desire for families to never be apart.
He will be forever loved dearly and missed deeply and will never be forgotten. What a cool dude.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time and will be announced publicly.
