Courtney Blain Sharp

Courtney Blain Sharp, 53, of Midland, passed away on December 5, 2020. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 2:00PM at Mid-Cities Community Church in Midland (8700 TX-191, Midland, Texas 79707). Graveside service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 2:00PM at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo, TX (14200 IH-27 South, Amarillo, TX 79119)

Courtney was born on February 23, 1967 to Richard and Claudette Sharp in Borger, TX.

Courtney was a 1985 Amarillo High School graduate. He obtained a Bachelor of Political Science degree in 1990 from West Texas State University. He spent over 30 years in public service, beginning with Panhandle Regional Planning Commission, City of Canyon, City of Mt. Pleasant, and most recently the City of Midland where he retired in 2020. Courtney's great love in leadership for people gained him many friends throughout the state and a high level of respect within in the city management profession.

In his spare time, Courtney enjoyed fishing, running full and half marathons, James Bond movies, gardening and spending time with his beloved bulldog Bonnie. Most would agree his quirky sense of humor was a welcoming gift to break up a bad day. He would always remember your face but could never remember your name.

The greatest joy of his life was his three daughters who eagerly absorbed his wisdom and counsel as they grew to become confident young women. His crowing glory, however, were his three beautiful granddaughters. He was affectionately called Pappy by Layla, Hollis and Ivy who loved, adored and cherished him.

He is survived by Hannah Simmons and husband Cole, Reagan Todd, and husband Haydn and Madison Sharp, all of Midland. Three granddaughters, Layla Todd, Hollis Simmons, and Ivy Todd. Siblings, Bryan Sharp, and wife Karla, sister Lisa Sharp, and twin brother Chris Sharp, and wife Traci, all of Amarillo and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cole Simmons, Haydn Todd, Hutton Sharp, Aden Sharp, Robert Patrick and Chuck Harrington.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to Kenya Widows and Orphans Ministries www.kwoministries.org or The Midland Humane Coalition.
