Coy ReesCoy B. Rees, 86, of Corbin passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at Baptist Regional Medical Center. Born June 19, 1921, in Knox County, he was the son of Esom T. and Dora Moore Rees, both who preceded him in death.A member of East Corbin Baptist Church, he was a kind man, loved by everyone and a friend to all, raising his family in a strong Christian environment. For 37 years, he worked for the L and N Railroad as a brakeman and conductor. He proudly served his country in the Army in WWII, Battery B, 200th Field Artillery Battalion. Additionally, he was a member of the Hugh Harris Lodge No. 938 F. and A.M. of Corbin.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers: Elmer, Troy, Roy, Joy, Jack, and Joe Rees; and two sisters: Opal Bunch and Georgia Edwards.Survivors include his loving wife, Bertha Rose Rees to whom he would have been married 65 wonderful years on Jan. 2, 2008; one son, Ronnie Rees and wife Cindy; two daughters: Judy Rees Gambrell and husband Paul, Alice Rees Riley and husband Richard; four grandchildren: Sherri Gambrell Gardner and husband Scott, Richie Riley, Catie and Chris Rees; two great-grandchildren: Jordan and Jacob Gardner; one brother, Ray Rees and wife Helen of Corbin; two sisters: Bonnie Dixon and husband Wayne of Corbin, Ruth Salmons and husband Everette of Goshen, Ohio, three sisters-in-law: Myrtle Rees, Vernie Rees and Doris Rees, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all who mourn his passing.Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at the East Corbin Baptist Church with Bro. Ronnie Watkins and Bro. Roy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the VFW Post 1410 in Corbin. Serving as pallbearers will be Clyde Dixon, Randy Dixon, Johnnie Bunch, Eddie Wayne Rees, Maurice Rees, and Davey Evans. Named as honorary pallbearers are Wayne Dixon, Kenneth Setser, Edwin Mahan, Jim Rose, Dr. Richard Park, Levi Hoskins, Murrell Mitchell, Richard Stevens, and Johnny Durham.The family of Coy B. Rees will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin. The attendance of all brothers of the Hugh Harris Lodge No. 938 F. and A.M. is requested to perform the Masonic rites of brother Coy B. Rees at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Additionally, the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour Thursday at East Corbin Baptist Church.Hart Funeral Home is in charge of all the arrangements.
