Craig Glaser Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 7, 2025.
Craig Steven Glaser, 70, passed away on September 3, 2025, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Born on January 9, 1955, in the Bronx, New York, Craig was raised in Madison Township and graduated from Madison Township High School.

In the early 1980s, Craig founded Craig's Auto Service in South Amboy, New Jersey. A Master Technician, he earned widespread respect for his precision and deep knowledge of automotive diagnostics and repair. His dedication to excellence established him as a trusted figure in the local automotive community.

Craig's passion for motorsports brought him national recognition within the NHRA circuit, where he was affectionately known as the "Demon Tweeker." In the 1990s, he traveled the racing circuit with his son, Dustin Glaser, creating lasting memories as a single parent. He served as crew chief for his brother Michael Glaser's Super Comp Dragster-a vehicle Craig built himself-which earned the "Best Appearing Vehicle" award at an NHRA event. His technical expertise also contributed to Tommy Johnson Jr.'s Mopar Top Fuel Dragster team that broke the world speed record in 1993 at 306.64 MPH.

Craig's inventive spirit was evident in everything he did. One memorable example was his integration of a third brake light from a Honda Accord into Michael's dragster's rear wing-an innovation that reflected both his creativity and commitment to safety. His enthusiasm for racing remained strong throughout his life; shortly before his passing, he expressed a wish to return to Maple Grove Raceway to wrench one last time.

As a devoted father, Craig often spoke fondly of the memories he shared with his son Dustin. Before Dustin became a father himself, Craig proudly shared stories about him-always through others rather than directly to Dustin-reflecting a quiet but unwavering pride and love.

In later years, Craig found immense joy in spending time with his granddaughters Harper and Piper. Whether flying kites with them, relaxing in his camper alongside their dogs, or traveling across New Jersey to attend their soccer tournaments, Craig cherished every moment. He never missed an opportunity to express how proud he was of them and how deeply he loved them.

Beyond racing and family life, Craig pursued a wide array of interests. He enjoyed cooking, photography, ham radio, flying kites and model airplanes, collecting pocket watches, and riding motorcycles. He was especially devoted to rescuing German Shepherds and found great happiness spending time with his dog Kayla. In his final decade of work as an automotive inspector, Kayla accompanied him on inspections-bringing companionship and joy to each day.

Craig was predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Millicent Glaser, and his sister Jacqulyn Glaser Pannullo. He is survived by his son Dustin Glaser and wife Katie; brothers Jeffrey Glaser and wife Lynette; David Glaser and wife Susan; Michael Glaser and wife Denise; Evan Glaser and wife Kathleene; granddaughters Harper and Piper; sisters-in-law Dawn Glaser; brother-in-law John Pannullo; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 20, 2025, starting at 3:00 PM in Jackson, New Jersey. For information about the location, please email: [email protected].

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

Dear Criag, I will dearly miss your stories of you bd your granddaughters and of your furry fanboy of dogs. Your stories showed me how heroic you were protecting them. I love watching you play with your granddaughters. So much love in one man. You and your stories will be deeply missed.
