Curtis Burnett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 14, 2018.
Funeral service for Curtis Lamar Burnett, 88, of Southside, will be held today at 3 p.m. at Collier-Butler Chapel. Burial will follow in Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jan Stanley will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Mr. Burnett was born in Blount County on April 11, 1930 to Willie and Cleo Burnett. As a young man, he accepted Jesus Christ into his life as his personal savior. His life was a testament to others, and he loved the Lord with all of his heart. He graduated from Etowah High School in 1948. He was a Korean War veteran and served in Japan. On Oct. 21, 1956, he married Evelyn Cline, the love of his life and had been married nearly 62 years. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 37 years. He was also retired from Dial-A-Ride Transportation with over 17 years of service. He was a hardworking and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Evelyn Cline Burnett; and a devoted son, Randall R. Burnett (Charie); and granddaughters, Morgan Burnett Gentry (Josh) and Molly Burnett Bellew (Hunter), who were the apple of his eye; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Cleo Burnett; and his brother, James Clyde Burnett.
Pallbearers will be Leonard Green, Donald Smith, Joshua Gentry, Hunter Bellew, Dow Jones, David Roberts, John Tanner Williams, and Robert Burnett.
As a family, we were blessed to have wonderful caregivers and nurses. Thank you Eva Rogers, Geraldine Willis, Toni Coker, Paige Pope, and Megan Bryant.
Also, we are forever thankful to Alacare Hospice staff, including Kayla Howington and Elizabeth Goll.
God sends angels among family members and Missy Williams is a testament to God's goodness. Thank you for your love, support and sleepless nights. We love you.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home today from 1 p.m. until the hour of service.
