Curtis TEMPLE

Our beloved Curtis Clayton Temple, Jr. was given to the proud parents of Cheryl Jenkins Temple and Curtis Clayton Temple, Sr. on June 9, 1984. Curtis was so special and loved that God saw fit to shower him with more love, when at the age of two, he became the precious son of Cheryl Jenkins and Julius White, Jr. He grew up in Missouri City, Texas where he attended Hunters Glen Elementary, Stafford Middle and High School where he graduated as Salutatorian of his high school class in 2002. Curtis attended Texas A&M- College Station and the University of Houston. He obtained several honors beginning with his early childhood education. Oh, how he loved to read and work with his hands. He was a master at assembling things without instructions. He loved to challenge his mind through the workmanship of his hands. He was very active with book clubs and science experiments. His dad, Julius, got joy from coaching Curtis and his friends' little league baseball team. They really thought that they could play ball. He found his niche in life during his middle school years through his love of math. Curtis was so brilliant, he was able to add his debate skills to his love of math. He earned numerous debate awards with DECA (formerly Distributive Education Clubs of America) and participated in many competitive events. He was such a great debater; we thought that he was going to be an attorney but he chose the engineering field.

Curtis spent his early Christian life at New Mt. Carmel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. C. A. Berry. He later joined St. John's UMC where he was baptized in 1998.

For the last 15 plus years, Curtis was employed as a Document Control Professional working for Worley Parsons, Amec Paragon with his daddy, Julius, where he received The Silver Bullet Award for Job Performance and Client Satisfaction. He traveled extensively, domestically and internationally, as a Document Control Consultant spending a great deal of his time in Alaska. His consultant jobs included Exxon Mobil Production Co., Technip, Lyondell Basell, Braskem USA, and his last employer, (H-J-H Design Partners) LKG-CMC, Inc., which relocated him to the Seattle, Washington area.

Curtis had a deep love for the LGBTQ community which accepted him fully. He wanted to fill a void and serve his community. In February 2017, he started a podcast, Gayside Stories, which was dedicated to his experiences. His mission was to always amplify the voices of marginalized people. He was deeply respected and cherished by the podcasting community and appeared on TV station King 5 in Seattle to talk about his podcast and the impact it had on the community.

Curtis was preceded in death by his grandma Gloria Jean Jenkins and grandma Ernestine White; grandpa Mack Jenkins; great grandmother Effie Lee Sharp; his special aunt, Sandra D. Jenkins; his uncles Reginald and Roland Cox; and his great aunt Audrey Jenkins.

Curtis leaves to cherish his memories; his loving and devoted mother, Cheryl and BONUS daddy, Julius White, Jr.; his proud brother, Julius "Joey" White, III (LaToya Johnson) of Los Angeles, CA; father, Curtis Temple, Sr. of Wharton, TX; cousin/brother, Keith (LaQuietta) Jenkins; uncle, Michael Jenkins; aunt, Jennifer Jenkins (Thomas) White; cousin, Brittney Jenkins; two great aunts, Elizabeth Brown, of Franklin, LA and Joyce J. Bethany; Aunt Janice and Uncle Wayne Edwards; his very best friend, GaiBrealle Allen-Macon, two precious God Children, Jayden Noelle and Jameson Robert, all of Cary, NC; and a host of other family members and special friends.

Curtis was truly and deeply loved by many. It is truly impossible to consolidate his impact on this world through words. His love and devotion for the people that he cared for changed all of our hearts and lives forever. He will be deeply and greatly missed.
