Curtis Edward Tyler Jr.

"Gramps"

February 27, 1958 – April 13, 2025

Curtis Edward Tyler Jr., lovingly known as "Gramps," passed away peacefully at his home in Dayton, Ohio on April 13, 2025, at the age of 67.

Curtis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Alene Tyler; his children Rita and Roger Cullum, Yvonne Earls, Krystal Russell, Christopher (Bub) and Shanna Tyler, Courtney and Wayne Robertson, and Joshua Thompson; his 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; his brother, Randall Campbell; sister-in-law and husband, Cindy and Bradley Brown; sister-in-law, Rosalie Harjo; and brother-in-law, Rusty Wallace.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father Curtis Tyler Sr., mother JoAnn Tyler, sister Deborah Nelson, father-in-law Jack Wallace, mother-in-law Melba Wallace, and sister-in-law Penny Britt.

Curtis spent most of his life working with his hands as a skilled and certified mechanic. Outside of the garage, Curtis had a deep love for country music and never missed a chance to two-step or swing dance the night away with his beloved Alene. He wasn't afraid to be silly and always tried to keep up when the music changed, even if the steps didn't quite come with it.

Curtis and Alene were inseparable, especially in their later years, where they enjoyed taking many trips and small vacations together. They resided in Mabank, Texas until the end of 2023, when they made their move to Dayton, Ohio. Curtis loved being known as "Gramps" and especially enjoyed his time with the four great grandbabies that lived near them in Ohio.

Curtis also had the unique opportunity to be a part of the popular show Street Outlaws, sharing screen time with his son-in-law, Roger Cullum. It was a highlight he truly cherished and spoke of often with pride and excitement.

Brisket and all the sides will be served-one of Curtis' favorite meals. This will be a BYOB event. While it may sound unconventional, we know Curtis would want nothing more than for everyone to laugh, eat, share stories, sip a cold beer, and enjoy the music he loved so much.

Flowers and gifts may be sent to Alene Tyler at:

3602 Modena St., Dayton, OH 45417

Curtis lived his life fully, loved deeply, and laughed often.

He will be forever missed and lovingly remembered.
