Cynthia Ann Barrett
1957-2015
Cindy passed away peacefully August 31, 2015 in Houston, Texas with her husband at her side. She was comforted by her entire family prior to her passing. Cindy Braund was born in Greenbrae, California on March 22, 1957. She married Mickey Barrett on July 12, 1980 in Redmond, Oregon and spent the last 35 years sharing her life with him. Cindy graduated from Oregon College of Education and taught Kindergarten while her children were young. She played tennis on the college team and remained an avid tennis player her entire life.
Cindy was famous for her infectious laugh and her selfless big heart. Everyone loved Cindy, and she passionately loved her friends and family. Cindy is survived by her parents, John and Mary Braund, her brother Doug Braund, her sons Matt and Brian and her daughter, Christi. She also adored Brian's wife, Holly, Matt's Fiancée, Missy, Doug's wife, Linda, and her sister-in-law, Heidi. She was preceded in death by her brother, Steve Braund.
The family will hold a private memorial service. They will also host a celebration of Cindy's life for friends and family at the Humble Civic Center at 3 pm on September 11th followed by a reception at the same location. Please honor Cindy's spirit by dressing in business casual attire. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mother's Against Cancer or MD Anderson Cancer Hospital in memory of Cindy.

Cindy was a great wife, mom, daughter, sister, firend to all and will be missed. While she has made her "safe passage" know that she will still be with you in the wonderful memories that she has left you with. And she will be watching over all.

I am so sorry to hear of Cindy's passing....I taught the children in kindergarten at Greentree. Cindy was one of those parents so involved with her children and their education. Such a bright spot helping in the classroom when needed, and always with a happy heart and a smile! She loved her children and family beyond words, and it was evident always in what she would do to help in the classroom by lending a 'working' hand---which in a K classroom can often be messy, I especially remember class parties and her involvement! A very special individual. Please know I am praying for all......I still have a picture of Christi on the first day of school! Long time ago.....peace of Christ be with you all! God bless and keep you in His loving arms during this time. May memories bring you comfort. I KNOW she is with each one of you at this time, she will send strength and loving peace.....nancy caperton❤

Cindy and I were the best of friends as cousins growing up. Unfortunately our paths rarely crossed as adults. I have very fond memories of our times together. Though we did not see each other I kept in touch with her life from a distance through our mother's reports and Christmas letters.

I know she had a wonderful life excluding health problems which finally took her from us. Thank you Mickey for being such a wonderful husband and I am thankful for all the great years you had together (never enough). She was blessed with marvelous children which are a reflection of their parents and their wonderful grandparent's legacy of love. Cindy also was blessed with the best parents a child/adult could ask for.

My heart aches for all.

Prayers and peace at this most difficult time of grieving.

Cynthia spent the last 35 years preparing her family to be a model for us all. Her greatest gift was in making people happy. And is proven by simply looking at those she touched. They know joy and happiness and will remember and continue to pass on the tradition forever.
