Cynthia Cary Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 4, 2024.
Cynthia Frances Cary (née Miskinis), aged 75, passed away on October 30, 2024, in Crofton, Maryland. Born on January 30, 1949, in Amsterdam, New York, to parents Peter and Jean Kaszuba Miskinis, Cynthia led a life marked by dedication to her community and love for her family.

Cynthia is survived by her sister, Maureen Frisch (Oscar); niece, Wendy Frisch Owens, both of Annapolis, Maryland; Aunt Lorraine Miskinis of Scotia, New York; and many cousins. Her beloved husband, Dr. Guy Cary, and her parents preceded her in death.

She began her education at St. Stanislaus Catholic Grade School, followed by Amsterdam High School. Cynthia furthered her studies at the Franklin Institute of the Arts and Sciences and Hudson Valley Community College. Her career as a Registered Nurse started at Albany Medical Center, and she continued at Syracuse VA Medical Center before relocating to Arizona with her husband.

Cynthia was a devout member of Our Lady of the Mountains in Sierra Vista, Arizona, where she also expressed her love for music as a choir soloist. Her compassion extended beyond humans to animals; she rescued many birds, two African Parrots, several Retired Racing Greyhounds, other dog breeds, cats, and rabbits. Cynthia also enjoyed playing Scrabble and Bingo with her friends at Brightview Senior Apartments.

A private service will be held at Our Lady of the Mountains, Sierra Vista, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Little Lotus Rescue and Sanctuary at https://littlelotusrescueandsanctuary.org or Greyhound Pets of Arizona at https://gpa-az.com/donate.html.
