Cynthia “Cindi” Ann Phillips Kocher, 74, of Marion, passed away with her daughters by her side on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Cottage Grove Place. Services: 11 a.m., Friday at Teahen Funeral Home by Penny Ackerman. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday and after 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Cindi leaves behind her two daughters, Tricia Tanner, and Tracie (Mark) Margretz both of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Brandon (Brenna) Tanner, Katrina Tanner, and Miranda, Mariah and Marissa Margretz; and brother, Kevin (Gwen) Fox of San Jose, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry; infant children, Kimberly and Kent Kocher; and mother, Connie Fox.
Cindi was born on August 22, 1948 in Winnona, Minnesota. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Elmer and Julia Strommer. By 1955, her mother decided to move to Cedar Rapids to remarry and Cindi met her future husband Terry at 16. She graduated from Washington High School in 1966. On July 6, 1968, she married Charles “Terry” Kocher in Cedar Rapids. They were married for 50 years before his death in 2019. Cindi worked for Life Investors and later at True North, retiring in 2008. She was a member of Cedar Rapids Corvette Club for 54 years where she served as club president from 1995 to 1996.
Cindi was a wonderful caretaker who was always there for those who needed her. She was a wonderful party host and always took extra time to make sure the details were special for her guests. A favorite trip that Cindi took was to Hawaii where she swam with dolphins and she hoped someday to travel back there. She loved taking road trips in her Corvette and traveling with the Corvette Club was her favorite. Cindi and her aunt Judy, who were more like sisters, loved to host sample sales. She also liked butterflies, reading books, sewing and dressing up as Zelda the witch for many Halloweens and parties.
A memorial fund has been established in Cindi’s name and will be used for her favorite charities.
