Cynthia M. "Cindy" Cook, 70, of Wakefield died on Friday, February 4 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born in Arlington on June 27, 1940 she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Edith M. (Wilwerth) Downs.

Mrs. Cook was raised in Reading and was a graduate of Reading High School. She later attended Boston University. She had worked for the Addison-Wesley Publishing Co. in Reading, Safety Insurance in Boston and most recently the Wakefield Town Clerk's Office.

Mrs. Cook had been a Wakefield resident for 47 years. She was an active member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Wakefield and also the Senior Bowling League at the Wakefield Bowladrome.

Mrs. Cook was the wife of Walter W. Cook. She was the mother of John M. Cook of PA, Deborah A. McKenna & her husband Keith of Exeter, NH and James W. Cook & his wife Jeannette of PA. She was the sister of Jane Klotz of Rockport, and Nancy Dicey and Janice Dobson of NH. She was the grandmother of Logan & Erin McKenna, Cameron & Audra Cook and Genevieve Cook.

A Funeral service will be held at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 5 Bryant St., Wakefield on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. A period of visitation will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 5 Bryant St., Wakefield, MA 01880.

Dear Wally and family, I just learned of Cindy's passing and was so saddened by the news. Her friendliness was so welcoming. I always enjoyed running into her in town, whether at the polls, or somewhere else. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Wally and family, Richard and I want to expresss our deepest sympathy to you. She put up a courageous fight. She is at rest now but her spirit lives on in all of you. You have wonderful memories of her and may they sustain you through this very sad time. God Bless!
Sorry we could not come to the funeral but we are in Florida with our son for a few weeks.
