Cynthia Farmer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 12, 2024.
Cynthia Lynn Scott Farmer, known affectionately as Cindy, passed away peacefully at home after a heroic battle with cancer, surrounded by her family on September 6, 2024, at the age of 65 in Lake Oswego, OR. Born on November 8, 1958, in Antioch, CA, she was a cherished daughter to Frank and Frances Scott.

Cindy dedicated over 40 years to her career as a laboratory technologist, starting her journey in California, where she worked at Sutter Delta Medical Center, and later moving to Oregon where she worked for Providence and Legacy. She retired as a lab supervisor at Legacy, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and mentorship.

Cindy's life was marked by her selflessness and her immense capacity for love. She was a nurturing mother to Erin, Chris, Allison, and Daniel, and a doting grandmother to Claire and Hudson. Her husband of 36 years, Greg, her parents, and her brother, Randy Scott, along with dozens of extended family and close friends, survive her and cherish her memory.

Cindy found solace and peace at The Grotto in Portland, OR, a place that greatly comforted her. Her personal interests included teaching her children and grandchildren about science, visiting the Oregon Coast, taking her dogs to Thousand Acre Park, and gardening.

A graduate of Antioch High School and California State University, Sacramento, Cindy's educational background fueled her successful career and her passion for science.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Kruseway Commons clubhouse located at 4933 Parkview Dr in
Lake Oswego from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Light refreshments will be provided. Another celebration in California will be held with details to follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Cindy's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital, or UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. Links and details for donations can be found on the respective hospital websites.

Cindy's life was a profound testament to the power of care and compassion, leaving an indelible impact on everyone she met. Her spirit and legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her.

One year ago we lost a dear friend and loved one. The world was a much better place with Cindy in it. She was strength and bravery with every challenge she faced, truth and honesty in friendship, leadership or family, and shared her energy and love with all who knew her. Even in death, she still talks to those hearts she cherished. Missing her will be with me until I see her again.

Cindy was such a wonderful and kind lady. She had a wonderful smile and I´m thankful for the times we were able to chat about our families.

I always enjoyed it when Cindy would run her dogs in our neighborhood park. I could set a clock by them. I missed it when she stopped bringing her dogs. I wished I had taken the time to tell her that.

Cindy had a way of clearing out the less important aspects of the situation and getting to the nitty gritty immediately. Whether the issue was technical in the lab or personal or hypothetical. I´ve known her for a long long time and, over and over, she amazed me with her honesty and her laugh and her deep understanding of how humans think.
I will never stop missing her.

I have countless memories of Cindy, but one of the best was sharing our pregnancies of Rachel and Daniel who are 3 and half months apart. I am thankful that you have been a part of our family and shared so many years with my brother, Greg. He will not be the same without you. Rest in peace. The pain is gone now.

Cindy touched the lives of many people. She will always be remembered for your kind and gentle heart, love of family, and dedication to those she worked alongside. She enriched many lives. She was a confidant, one to give a "kick in the butt" when needed, and could see the good in people and difficult situations. She was a true blessing as a friend and coworker. Having a generous and loving heart, she always put others before herself. I will miss Cindy but will rejoice in having known her before she passed from this life into eternity.
