Cynthia Guigno Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 18, 2024.
Sarasota - With great sadness, we announce the passing of Cynthia "Cyndee" Guigno on April 30, 2024 in Sarasota, FL. She was 77 years old. Cyndee Guigno (White) was born on April 9, 1947 in Red Bank, NJ. She was the beloved wife of Victor Guigno, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. Together, they created a wonderful life filled with love and respect. Cyndee graduated from Eastern Baptist College, PA, in 1969. She then completed her graduate program at Rutgers University and a pre-doctoral program. Cyndee lived in West Long Branch, NJ, for 40 years before retiring in Sarasota, Florida. She dedicated her career to the world of books, serving as a Monmouth County librarian and, later, the librarian in Ocean Township. She had a passion for literature and loved reading books to children, always willing to help a student in need from elementary to the university level. Cyndee loved to travel and explore new places with her husband. Some of her favorite places-and some of the most exotic were the Soviet Union, China and Polynesia. Another one of Cyndee's great passions was researching her ancestry. She took great pride in discovering the stories of her family history and preserving them for future generations. Cyndee is survived by her loving husband, Victor Guigno, as well as her extended family who will miss her dearly: cherished sister-in-law Gail B. White, Sarasota, FL and Cyndee's adoring nieces and nephews, Christopher (and Mary Beth Bresch) White of Annapolis, MD; Thomas (and Diana Corliss) White of Ruxton, MD; and Kathleen (and Michael) McMillan of Davidson, NC. She was predeceased by her parents Ennis (1991) and Svea White (2003), Wanamassa, NJ, her sister Julia A. White (1942), Red Bank, NJ and brother Frank L. White (2023) Sarasota, FL . A private memorial will be held at a later date to honor her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cyndee's honor to the American Library Association or St. Jude's.

Although I only physically met Cyndee twice, I felt that we had a lovely connection, established through years of corresponding via emails after our first encounter in Florida in 2018. My family and I felt the immediate warmth and hospitality of Cyndee (and Vic) and she always spoke so dearly of her family and her love for the written word. We shared family stories going back to our joint Swedish ancestry and so much more. It is with great sadness I have come to realize that I no longer will receive those much anticipated emails.
