The story of Cynthia D. Hicks has sadly come to an end, but her memory will live on in our hearts forever. She was born in Tallahassee, Florida on April 15, 1951 to parents the late Pearl W. Hicks who passed in May 2017 and the late Rev. Richard L Hicks Jr who passed in 1977. She gave birth to one son, Elijah R. Wallace on September 8th, 1980.
Ms. Hicks created her home in many states over her lifetime from Florida to Texas to Louisiana where she met her ex-Husband Herschal C. Wallace Jr. The family then moved to Philadelphia and stayed in the Chester County region of Pennsylvania. During that time she obtained her BSN and worked as a nurse for many years. Helping others always brought her great joy and fulfillment. She was an active member for many years of Church of the Holy Trinity in West Chester, Pennsylvania and Second Baptist Church in Wayne. She received support from and volunteered with many organizations in the area such as Stepping Stones in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Liberty House in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania and The Cornerstone Clubhouse in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
Cyndy loved to create beauty whether it be with crochet or poetry. She was always entering blankets or poems into various contests and art shows. She was extremely proud of her son Elijah who also brought much joy into her world. She enjoyed movies, music and reading.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations in Cyndy's name to either The Cornerstone Clubhouse or the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County.
Cyndy is survived by her only son Elijah R. Wallace, his wife Jennifer and her siblings Patricia Hicks Solomon, Dr. William Joseph Hicks, and Richard Lami Hicks.

To the Family of Cindy :
So very so for your loss, I have only know Cindy for about 3 yrs. I was very shocked and sad when my mother called and told me of her passing. Cindy was a resident @ Trinity house in Berwyn, where my mother also lives.
I would like her family to know how much I appreciated her, looking out for my Mom. She always made sure she was okay. Bring her food and, just watching out for her well being. Going to Bible study with her on Wednesday nights, and making sure she was safe in her apartment when they returned home. Thank You Cindy, RIP until we meet again.

Cindy was my sister in law, and though we did not talk often or see each other often she always struck me as a kind soul with a beautiful spirit. I pray that her spirit is soaring and she is at peace. Love you, Cindy!

We are left reeling from her loss. She added a sparkle of delight to most everyone she interacted with and she will be missed by many people. She was an amazingly tough woman who overcame many hurdles and was an inspiration in many ways. She loved creating beauty, whether it be crafting with yarn or with words. Let's not forget the amazing man she helped create & raise, part of her spark will continue with her son, Elijah.
