Cynthia Thomas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 29, 2025.
Cynthia.

On August 20, 2025, the light that we called Cynthia Marie Thomas passed away. Her departure marks the end of a vibrant and spirited life that touched many with warmth, wisdom, and joy.

Born in Newton, Kansas, on October 22, 1956 to RoseMarie Garnett (Foster)and William Thomas, Cynthia grew up with a deep love for learning and a passion for sharing knowledge. Her intelligence was matched by her kindness and courage-qualities that defined her presence in every room she entered. Whether through teaching or conversation, Cynthia had a gift for making others feel seen and inspired.

She was known for her infectious humor and radiant beauty, both inside and out. Always the life of the party, Cynthia brought light and laughter wherever she went. Her love of books reflected her curious mind and generous spirit; she delighted in teaching others and sparking curiosity in those around her.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her beloved mother Rosemarie Foster, father William Thomas, sister Carmen Jackson and cherished aunt Jeri Lyn Tipton. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughters Aminah Barry and Alexa Barry; her grandson Makhi Mosley; her sister Gina Thomas; her nephew Robert Jackson Jr.; and many more friends and family who will continue to celebrate her memory.

A memorial service will be held at Saint Paul A.M.E. Church

(1540 Pryor Rd SW, Atlanta, GA 30315) on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, at 3:00 PM.

May the memory of Cynthia Marie Thomas bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
