of Mr David Thomas
Ashton (69), of Rushpool
Close, Forest Town.
Born at Mansfield Woodhouse
and educated there
at Oxclose Lane Primary
and Yorke Street Secondary
schools, Mr Ashton, who had lived locally all his life,
had worked for James Maude&Co inamanagerial position
for 39 years retiring in 1995.
In his younger days he enjoyed all sports, walking,
ballroom dancing and badminton. He was also an officer
in the Boys' Brigade (Baptiste Church and Warsop Parish
Church) and chairman of James Maude Sports and
Social Club. His other interests were holidays abroad
and cruising and during his later years he was a member
of Titchfield Sookholme Bowls Club of which he was
secretary and in 2006 he was president of Mansfield and
District Bowls Association.
Mr Ashton, who died at his home, leaves his wife,
Mrs Glenis Ashton, son Mr Russell Ian Ashton and two
grandchildren, Natasha and Grant.

John Eastwood Hospice, Sutton.
The service was conducted by the Rev B. Jones, and
arrangements were by W. S. Ingham & Son Ltd.
