Daisy (Sears) Peter, 94, died Sunday morning, Feb. 5, 2017, at Green Lea Manor in Mabel.

Daisy Julia Sears was born in Fillmore County on March 10, 1922, to Julia (Viegen) Sears and Arthur R. Sears. She received her grade school education in several country schools, two years at Harmony High, and graduated from Canton High School in 1940.

After graduation, Daisy worked as a waitress, housekeeper in Cresco, Iowa.

Daisy married Roger Peter on March 10, 1944, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. They farmed in the Cresco area until 1961. Then they purchased and relocated to a farm north of Mabel.

Roger and Daisy retired from farming in 1976 and then moved to Mabel. Daisy volunteered as a 4H leader, Luther League leader, and Sunday school teacher. After retirement, she was a site manager for the Semcac program, and an assistant motel manager.

She is survived by two sons, Richard (Shirley) of Rochester, Gerald (DiAnne) of Mabel; one daughter, Rebecca (Michael) Wheeler of Mantorville; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.

She is proceeded in death her husband, Roger in 2004; a son, Clifford; four brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Scheie Lutheran Church, 43117 160th St., Mabel, with the Rev. Mary Waudby officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is assisting with arrangements.
