Mr. Dakota Lee Hendrix, age 17, of Red Top Road, Ferguson died Wednesday at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. A memorial service will be Sunday 3:30 PM, October 10, 2010 at Tom Dooley Amphitheater at Fort Hamby Park. Dakota was born November 18, 1992 in Caldwell County to Paula Hendrix. He was a student at West Wilkes High School, where he was a member of the West High School Band, the Student Council, an assistant in the library and a Black Hawk Buddy. Dakota was a part of the Upward Bound Program. He was a member of the Mount Pleasant Boy Scout Troop #325 and Order of the Arrow. During his years at West Middle School, he was on the school track team. Dakota was a member of Crossfire United Methodist Church. He is survived by: his mother, Paula Hendrix of the home; two brothers, David Sanders of the home, Dustin Morton of Florida and one sister, Whisper Morton of Florida. Flowers may be sent to the home or memorials may be made to Mount Pleasant Boy Scout Troop #325, c/o Rodney Huffman, 1807 Boiling Springs Road, Purlear, NC 28665.

Paula, Just know that we are thinking about you and your son David. We pray that GOD will give you both the strength to get through these tough days. Paula and family, I am so sorry to learn of Dakota's passing. He was always so kind and soft spoken. Any time I spoke with him at school he was friendly and polite. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May God comfort you.
