You already know how much I loved you brother so no need for that. I suspect I'm the only person that still pulls these comments up when I'm thinking about Nelson. In case I'm not and Ms. Cynthia Dillard does the same. Thank you for those beautiful words about Dakota, I read them often. ❤ Natalie 7062997173 if you ever need me.

I cannot even imagine your grief. I just lost my father - but to loose a child is unimaginable. As an avid follower of MCHS Football my son knew Dakota and has been heartbroken to hear of this tragedy. Just as everyone else said - he was a friendly, fun and warm young man raised in a loving and caring home. May your fondest memories comfort you and may you rest knowing that Dakota is indeed a very special angel who will forever watch over you. God bless.

To Dakota's Family: May God's love, mercy and grace surround you during this time of great heartache and sorrow. Louise: I didn't personally know dakota but all remarks I ever heard was what a great young man he became. I watched him play football all of his High School career. You could tell he had practiced hard & played a hard fought game each time he was on the field. He always made something good happen. Remember the good times and God will comfort you and the whole family. Love, Betty Hampton

Greg,
All of my prayers and thoughts are with you. I loved Dakota very much. He always brought a ray of sunshine when he walked in a room. Dakota will be missed by all. Dakota never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. I remember the last time I talked with Dakota a few weeks ago at a football game and he came up to me with that big smile huged me and I told him I loved him. I'm thankful to the lord that I got that chance to say that to him. If you ever need anything please call and I will be there.

To say I'm Sorry to the Family doesn't seem to be enough, so I will simply say "In some small way we will do our part and say a Prayer, for those that remain" I weep for the Father that lost his son,the Sister and the Grandparents that made him the Personality that everyone remembered. I recall the day of Graduation and Dakota walked up to me as if he had known me all his life and Hugged my neck. I recall the tears that filled my eyes that day because I thought there is something special about the child, Why he seemed to be like one of my sons, and he could've been he was a son anyone could love.He Graduated and played Football with our sons..I truly Believe to everthing there is a season and I 've learned myself that there is a Living Grace and Dying Grace, But God's Grace is in all things. Our Prayer is that when the tears come and the loney days that will follow as they will, that you may be able to remember the lives you and your family have touched. I pray angels cradle you, hold you close to them and that your heart may break, the broken heart will be filled with love. In closing Thank You for Allowing us the Chance to be Apart of your Lives, Not One of You will be Forgotten and You Will Remain In My Thoughts and Prayers Forever.. May God Bless and Keep You in The Shelter of His Arms,

Dakota was the type of person that even if you weren't a part of the "popular" crowd he didn't care, he would hang out with you anyway. I met him in middle school and he was always nice to me and everyone else he met. He is a wonderful man who will be sorely missed. I want the family to know that he was a very important part of the lives of everyone he met. My deepest sympathy is with them now and through the days to come. Stay strong!

Dakota was a great guy. We were never really close, but we talked occasionally. He always knew how to make you smile even in the worst of moods and was a joy to be in class with. It's sad to think that a guy who could make anyone happy by just being around could pass so young! Dakota was a great friend and a great athlete and I know the lives of many will never be the same without him. We will all miss you Dakota!!

I have had the privelege to coach many young men and ladies while at MCHS and I can honestly say there will never be another like Dakota Nelson. Dakota was one of the few people that I have ever met that could transform your mood simply by being around him. If your sad or downhearted his one of a kind smile and voice would instantly make you perk up and if you were already happy he simply add more joy to your life. Dakota had one of the biggest kindest hearts of anyone that I have ever known. I guess the reason Dakota's heart was so big is because everone he met he took a piece of theirs. I know he took a large piece of mine. Dakota it was a joy and a priveldge to know and coach you and I wish I could have done more and by the you will always be Varsity material in my book. Greg you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers and from the bottom of my heart I'm truly sorry.

There are so many memories and thoughts I have had and shared with Dakota since we were kids. I never have met another person quite like Dakota, and probably never will. He always had a positive thing to say about everyone, even people he didn't know, he would find something good to say about them. It was an honor to have known him and been friends with him and if you didn't know Dakota you missed out on having a very special person in your life. I love you man and will always miss you. To Greg and Natalie and the rest of the family, my thoughts and prayers will always be with you just keep on looking forward and always know Dakota and his family will always be on my mind.

There's no words or anything in this world that can describe how I feel about Dakota and everything that is going on. He was more than an amazing guy. He always had a smile on his face and always found a way to put one on yours. If Dakota couldn't make you smile then nobody could. He never met a stranger and never talked bad about anybody. He was the best friend anybody could ask for and when you didn't have anywhere to turn Dakota was your guy. I know he was always there for me. I can never forget those big bear hugs he always gave. He's defiantly an unforgettable guy. I miss you like crazy Dakota and I'll never forget all the times we shared together. You were an amazing athlete and an amazing person. You showed me a new way at looking at life. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. You left a big footprint on my heart and I will never forget you.

My prayer is for you to know God's grace and comfort during a time that, alone, we can't understand.

Dakota was the sweetest, nicest, most caring young man that I've had the privilege of knowing. When Dakota spoke to you, you would feel like you were the only person in the room. He gave you 100% of his attention, plus that little side hug he so easily gave to everyone. How blessed my daughter was to be able to call him a good friend. Greg and family, my deepest heartfelt sympathy. Dakota, look down and feel the deep love and sorrow that our community feels for you. And I know that you're gonna give ole St. Peter a run for his money in being Gods right hand man.

I am very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at a time like this. I watched Dakota grow up throughout the years of playing rec baseball. He was known to me as the REALLY tall little boy since he was twice the size of my REALLY short little boy(Nick Underwood). Then as they grew older they were on the same summer league one year. I always brought the cooler and drinks for them. He always greeted me with a hug and a smile. He was always very polite and well mannered. On Graduation day he just bounced across the stage so happy. It is very hard to believe that this has happened. Our hearts go out to the family. Karen, Nick, and Tyler Underwood

I had the great privilege of being good friends with Dakota since our freshman year of high school. He is an absolutely amazing person, he touched the lives of many. He was always in a good mood and if you weren't, well he would try his best to get you in one..and it usually always worked. He was one that never met a stranger and he always greeted you with that big smile of his and a hug. My mom always said that he was one of the nicest, most polite young men that she had ever met, it was always yes mam, no mam. She said that he would always go up to her at school and talk to her and give her one of his famous hugs. This is such a terrible loss. Greg, you and your family will be in my prayers. Greg and anyone else who had a hand in raising Dakota, you did a fantastic job raising Dakota. He was the most polite and well mannered young man i have ever met.It didn't matter if i saw him in a grocery store, convenient store,or ballgame, wherever, it was a hug ,yes mam,no mam.He was definately one of a kind.As you know he will be missed dearly by many, many people. Our thoughts and prayers will be with the family and everyone else who loves Dakota.God bless you and may God be with you all.

Words can't adequately express the sadness and heartbreak I feel for your family over the loss of Dakota. I will forever remember his warm and gentle nature, and the ease in which he communicated and interacted with everyone of all ages. You all are in my thoughts and prayers, along with so many people in this community where this personable, well mannered young man touched many lives, and will always be remembered for the kindness and interest he showed in other. Friends and this community now embrace and surround your family, and hold you all close as you go through this most difficult time.
