KRAUS
DALE RICHARD "MOOSE"
Age 84, a retired iron worker, and a proud member of the International Association of Bridge, Structural & Ornamental Iron Workers, Local #3, of western Pennsylvania for 62 years, passed away on January 8, 2013 at the Civista Medical Center in Southern Maryland. He was born in Pittsburgh on June 9, 1928 to the late Joseph F. and Margaret A. Kraus and served in the Army from February 1946 to July 1947 during the Korean War. Moose was a man of principle, honor and integrity, as well as a phenomenal carpenter, plumber and electrician, and certainly a master at story and joke telling. He was never short on words and never without a witty, often "biting" comeback. He was preceded in death by his three loving sons, Jeffrey Allen, Wayne Kenneth, and Steven William. Moose was a wonderful and beloved father and grandfather. He is survived by his sister, Doris Kraus Moore; devoted daughter Leslie Anne Kraus (Jeffrey P.) Cater; adoring granddaughters, Jennifer Nicole Cater (Michael) Pomatto, Amanda Michele Cater (Bryan) Fulmer, and Lauren Elizabeth Kraus; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Bella, and Evan; and his former wife Wilma Colteryahn Kraus. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, 15227, on Saturday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 until the time of service at 8:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Steve Kraus Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Brentwood Park Initiative, c/o Dr. Francis Cappetta, 3903 Clairton Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15227. Dear Leslie and Mooser's,
My life has been full of characters, but none as large as Daaaale. His words of wisdom sprinkled with original quips never seemed to amaze me. At one time a father figure cultivating into a friendship, he's been a part of my life since youth. What a guy and will deeply miss him.

My husband has shared many many stories with me about him and from this I know he will be missed by many. I wish I would have been able to express my condolences in person.
