Damian Chavez Obituary
Damian, the son of Sadie and Alfonso Chavez was preceded in death by brothers Luis and Robert Chavez, Sister Hilda Valdez, brothers-in-law Ruben Valdez, Alarico DeHererra, and sister-in-law Donna Chavez.
Damian is survived by wife Rosella Chavez, son Sean Chavez, daughters Candice Lee (Paul) Valdez, and Honey Dawn Chavez, grandchildren Rhea Chavez and Aidan Chavez, brother Randy (Patricia) Chavez and sister Rachel DeHererra.
Damian was born in Boone, Co. After spending 31 years in the Boulder area, it is Damian's wish to return to his beloved Boone where his ashes will be spread.
Damian's six-foot, 250+ pound frame, paled in comparison to his giant personality. He enjoyed spending time with his former co-workers from the City of Boulder and friends at Gizzi's coffee in Broomfield.
The family would like to thank the incredible staff of the Boulder and Broomfield Counties Hospice. The staff showed tremendous love in caring for Damian and the family.

To the Familia Chavez: The past couple of years you have waited until I got off work so we could share Thanksgiving dinner with you. Jo and I will be forever grateful. It was always a joy to sit around during dinner, and tell stories and hear that big, loud laugh that Uncle Damian had. He was so up to date on current events and always knew what was happening in my job, and always asked me my opinion of what he had read. He was also my fellow "Homies" collector. Jo and I will miss him dearly.

Dearest Chavez Family,
There seems not words enough to share my sincerest joy of meeting all of you and having known your "Pa". Even only with the short duration of his presence in my life, he left a giant resonating, peaceful love in my heart.
Know that he is finally healed, resting with our Lord and Savior... looking down upon all of you his loved ones (with the remote) and smiling. I can hear him now... AIDAN!!!

Uncle, God bless and thousands of prayers for your journey into the afterlife. We will miss you (and your humour) immensly. Thank you for always welcoming us into your home, and especially for feeding me, as you saw that I clearly needed a decent feeding! Thank you also for not allowing me to be lazy and for making me grab the food for myself...life lessons sometimes come in small doses, haha (but I did gleam something from it!) Thank you also for always opening your doors for Cyan to visit, and for introducing her to her favorite snack, popcorn. I'm very greateful that she had the chance to say goodbye proper...
We will miss you (and your chili beans) - geeze all this is making me hungry...I make it sound like all we did together was eat!

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.The wonderful, great, man I will miss forever. My uncle was always there to listen, in such a caring way, he never made me feel like I was being judged. He listened with great interest and concern. I will always remember and miss the talks we shared.Uncle Damian always made me feel so loved;because evertime I seen him he always expressed his love & happiness to see me in the most enthusiastic way. I will miss that and those great big bear hugs the most. He has left a lasting impression on all the hearts he touched. God Bless you all in your time of grief.

Punkie, Sean, Candace, & Dawn - we were so sorry to hear about Damien. Please accept our heartfelt sympathy and condolences. Matt and I are honored that in the short time we've been back in Colorado, we've been able to spend time with you and Damien. We've appreciated it will think often and fondly of our visits with Damien. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

oh what a loss to our family as a whole. we all came to appreciate damian in our own special way. he had a huge heart especially for the little ones. he was sure there when i needed rides to and from work,even in snow stroms. i will miss him but i will never forget him. my love and prayers are for all the families whose life he touched.

To Punkie ET AL: Although I have many memories of Damian, the one I cherish most is this. When Desiree was an infant, she was running a high fever.Being first married,we had no car. So we called Uncle Damian and he came lickity split and rushed us to the Doctor. Remember when we could actually be seen the day we called? Well we got there and couldn't find a parking place...or so we thought. He was driving the old wagon and we felt like we were in a police chase all the way there. Just when we thought he was going to just drop us off, he, in a way only he could have, squeezed into a place that I don't believe anyone else could have. AND he didn't have to back in and out. He just DID it! Do you remember the Asian people in the back seat of the taxi during the chase scene in the Goldie Hawn movie w/Chevy Chase? That's how Bernal and I both looked and he was like "Hey come on. Get her in there!"
I remember this often and ALWAYS smile- as I will continue to do when I think of Damian who became a gentle giant in his older years. My love to you all!

There is so much I just want to thank you for, my uncle. I love you so much and I'm going to miss you terribly. All the times I spent the weekend with you when I was in Greeley were so wonderful. You always welcomed me and cared so much about everything I did. It just won't be the same without you to turn to. I love you always. I will always miss you. Uncle..
I just want to say that I love you and miss you so much...
I had a lot of fun staying at your house and eating probably the best food ever that Aunt Rosella made. Then just spending time with you whether we were just sitting on the couch watching CNN or going grocery shopping. Those simple memories I will always have like I remember every time I saw you my face would light up and I would run up to you and give you a big hug and kiss. I miss you unc! I'm not going to say goodbye but I will say see ya later! And I'm so sorry to the rest of the family...
