Dan France Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 1, 2024.
Dan France, aged 76, passed away following a prolonged illness, on October 20, 2024, in Westport, CT. Born on July 23, 1948, Dan lived a life marked by dedication and service, both in his professional and personal endeavors.

Dan was a graduate of the University of Florida, where he earned a degree in Accounting. He later became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), dedicating years to his profession with meticulous care and integrity. His commitment extended beyond his career to his country as well; Dan served in the US Army for two years, contributing to his nation with honor.

Beyond his professional and military service, Dan was deeply passionate about his personal interests. Since his youth, Dan always had a talent for art. He especially enjoyed painting with watercolor. Dan was an avid runner for many years and found great joy in gardening.

Dan is survived by his loving wife Amy France, his brothers Dave France (Kathie) and Ron France (Fanny), and his sister Debbie Crowder (Frank). He was preceded in death by his mother Jean France and his father John France.

To honor Dan's memory, a celebration of life party is being planned for Spring 2025 when his Crabapple trees are in bloom. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, reflecting Dan's love for animals and his community.

Dear Amy and Family,
Dan and I roomed together as fraternity brothers at the University of Florida. We reconnected a couple of years ago, and were corresponding by email, sharing political opinions and humor. Our most recent exchanges focused primarily on his health problems, and the most recent emails bounced back.

I just learned of his death today, finding this page online. I am sorry that you - and I - don't have him with us anymore. He was a very good friend to me back in the day, and it was very gratifying to be renewing the friendship.

I hope it makes you smile to realize he was loved by people you never met!

Warmly,

Jack Day
St. Petersburg, FL

Dan was a gentle and kind neighbor with a witty and dry sense of humor. We´ve only known Dan and his beautiful wife for a littler over a year. We could not ask for kinder and more thoughtful neighbors.

Our deepest sympathy to you, dear Amy.
