Dana Raymond Clare

Dana R. Clare age 61 of Norwell, formerly of Weston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Concord Health Care Center. Born in Needham he was the son of Diane (Palmer) Clare, currently of Groton and the late Richard W. (Bud) Clare, Jr. Dana was raised in Weston, graduating from Weston High School in 1972, and earned a B.A. from Hartwick College in 1977. He excelled in the manual arts; winning an Arts award at Hartwick with his portable printing press; produced numerous pieces of hand blown glass, carpentry and cabinetry, and mechanical projects including rebuilding the custom body of a 1930 Model A. Dana enjoyed a successful career in industrial engineering and sales, working for Corning Glass Works in Corning, NY and Industrial Aluminum in Waltham, MA. During his spare time he enjoyed sailing, playing golf, cooking, photography, sports, and spending time with family. Along with his mother Diane, Dana is survived by his son Jonathan Clare of Norwell, his brother Rick (Richard W. Clare III) of Westport, his sisters Lisa Kinnaird of Cold Spring, NY, and Cindy (Cynthia Riddle) of Harvard, the spouses of his siblings, his former wife Eileen Cronin, and his nephews Palmer and Walter Clare, David, Jamie, and Daniel Kinnaird, Will Charkowski, and his nieces Emily and Julia Riddle. Dana also leaves his father's cousin Charles Daunt of Belmont, and three cousins Marc and Matthew Palmer, and Maria Palmer Shankin of Buck's County, PA. Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Dana on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Concord Funeral Home, 74 Belknap Street, Concord, MA. Interment in Linwood Cemetery, Weston will be private.
