Daniel Beardsley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 27, 2021.
March 14, 1952 – Jan. 30, 2021
Daniel W. Beardsley, 68, passed away in Tucson, Arizona, on Jan. 30, 2021, with his family by his side. Dan was born in Urbana, Illinois, and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, in June of 1970. He attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and in 1977 graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's of Science degree in real estate. He later attended and graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law with a Juris Doctor in 1982.
Dan began his career in the right of way and land consultant field in the early 1970s where he excelled for more than 40 years. During this time he was actively involved in too many projects to mention but one of the truly memorable ones was his involvement in negotiating and purchasing property from private landowners for the Alyeska pipeline. He even drove the first private vehicle up the Haul Road and hiked or snowshoed most of the pipeline looking for property corners.
Dan was actively involved in the International Right of Way Association (IRWA). He was on numerous IRWA committees and was also a very popular instructor for many IRWA courses. In 2000 he began his tenure on the International Executive Committee which culminated with becoming international president in 2005.
Dan will be remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend with a great smile and infectious laugh. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen, son, Sean Beardsley, daughter, Erin Crum, and three beautiful grandchildren.
Donations in memory of Dan can be sent to the Right of Way International Education Foundation (RWIEF) by sending a check payable to RWIEF to Clyde Johnson, 515 Wellspring Court, Alpharetta, Georgia, 30004, or by going to the RWIEF webpage at www.RWIEF.org, clicking on "Donate" on the left side and then following the instructions. Be sure to enter the memo "In memory of Dan."
A celebration of life will be held in Tucson, Arizona, on May 29, 2021, and also in Alaska on July 3, 2021, at places to be determined.

I met Dan Beardsley in fall of 1973 at Lathrop high school. They were having try outs for football. There must have been 80 of us in an old field behind the school that we used to have bonfires There was busted bottles, old rusty cans ,and a ton of nails from all the old out houses they used to haul in. but we survived and so did Lathrop football. Dan was our offensive coach. He was also the coolist coach on the team. He will be missed by his players and his friends

Dan was taken way to soon. We still had plans of many times to share and wines to drink. Dan and I met while working at Curry’s pumping gas and washing windows back in 1971! We’ve had many good times. Mary Ellen we will have many more. Love to you and Sean and Erin
