Daniel Bruggeman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 6 to Oct. 8, 2023.
Naples - Daniel Lawrence Bruggeman passed away suddenly on Monday, October 2, 2023 at the age of 58, in Naples, Florida.

The oldest of three children, Dan was born to Lawrence and Carol (Skjeveland) Bruggeman in May 1965 and grew up in St. Ansgar, Iowa.

After graduating from Mankato State University in 1987, Dan went on to a successful career as an executive at Newell Rubbermaid, MAC Tools, Horton Emergency Vehicles, Insight Equity, Trive Capital and Shaw Development. He had the pleasure of working with coworkers who became lifelong friends. It was at Newell that he met Denise (Nelson) his wife of 25 years.

Dan and Denise lovingly raised their children Amelia (21) and Ethan (19) in New Albany, Ohio and later in Naples, Florida. Dan's career necessitated frequent travel but he was always available for his children and present for their important milestones and accomplishments.

Aviation was Dan's passion. An accomplished pilot, Dan had private, instrument, commercial, and multi-engine ratings and over 3,000 flying hours. Many happy days were spent flying, tinkering at his airplane hangar and with pilot friends at the yearly EAA fly-in.

Dan was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, lover of Wisconsin, broasted chicken and cheese curds. He was a pianist and one time organist. After the fulltime move to Naples, Dan became a boater and enjoyed spending days boating with his family and friends. Though not a swimmer, Dan loved the beauty of Naples and its gulf shores from the helm of his boat.

In addition to his wife and children, Dan is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Carol Bruggeman; his sisters Jennifer (Douglas) Frodl and Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Clark; in-laws Dennis and Audrey Nelson; brothers-in- law Christian (Shannon) Nelson and Ryan (Jennifer) Nelson. As well as nieces Hayley, Ashley, Catherine, Grace, Anna, Lauren and Ruby and nephews Derek, Jacob, John, Joseph, Samuel, Sabin and Oliver.

Dan will be celebrated by family and friends October 14th in Naples, Florida, and with his pilot friends in OshKosh, Wisconsin, July, 2024.
