Daniel Aloysius Cragg

Daniel Aloysius Cragg, 55, of Wayne St., Corry, Pa., died peacefully at home Saturday, March 31, 2012, surrounded by his entire family. He was born in Corry on July 3, 1956 a son Gerri Cragg of Corry and the late Victor N. Cragg. Dan attended St. Thomas School until eighth grade and graduated from Corry High School in 1974. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served six years until his honorable discharge in 1980. He worked as a welder for Zurn Corporation for two years and spent the last 30 years as an employee of National Fuel Gas Company, where he was to retire from this April. He was involved in many activities and organizations. He coached basketball for St. Thomas School and Little League baseball for many years. Dan was a member of St. Thomas Church his entire life, a member of the Elks Club for a number of years and was a Union Steward for National Fuel. He was an avid sports fan. Some of his favorites included the Cleveland Browns and Indians, the Philadelphia Phillies, the Boston Celtics and of course, Notre Dame. He was the best auctioneer for the Sullivan family reunions for the past 20 years. Many would see him on the golf course, which was one of his favorite past times. His most favorite past time however, was spending time with his family. In addition to his father, Dan was preceded in death by his two brothers, John "Zip" Cragg and Timothy A. Cragg, and his father-in-law Gerald E. Sweet. Dan is survived by the love of his life, Debbie Sweet Cragg whom he married August 4, 1984 in Corry, and their three children; Danielle Cragg and her fiancé Eric Sproveri of Pittsfield, Pa., Derek Cragg and his fiancé Jessica Siksa of Cannonsburg, Pa., and Dustin Zip Cragg of Corry. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Shirley Sweet Pattison and her husband Nelson of Corry; his brothers and sisters Valerie Cragg Brooke and her husband Alan of Richmond, Va., MaryBeth Minnick and her husband Roger of Corry, Pa., Michael Cragg and his wife Holley of Geneva, N.Y., Patti Cragg Brown and her husband David of Corry, Pa., Bill Cragg and his partner Jaspr' of Washington, DC., and Kelly Cragg and his wife Rachel of Corry, Pa. He had many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; Jeff, Colleen, Amanda, Bridget, Alex, Michael Vic, Katiy, Michael, Patrick, John, Matt and Liam. Also surviving are many, many cousins including the Amys, Peterson, Klugees and Noreen Goda Santelli. Friends may attend a Mass of Christian Bural at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 203 W. Washington St., Corry, Pa., on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Mark A. Huffman officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Corry. Family and friends may attend the "Benefit for Dan" on April 21, where we will celebrate his life with family and friends. If you are unable to attend the event, donations may be sent to his residence.
