Daniel ?Dan? John Henry

Daniel John "Dan" Henry, 76, of rural Cridersville, died peacefully 5:53 a.m., Thursday, August 3, 2023, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, with his family at his side. He was born January 6, 1947, in Lima, the son of the late John Ernest and Freda Aldona (Davis) Henry. On September 25, 1971, he married Marjorie Elise Wakefield, and she survives.

Other survivors include, daughter, Kimberly Elise (William) Wilcox, Florence SC; granddaughter, Katelyn Rosalie-Elise Wilcox, Florence SC; sister, Sarah R. Henry (Jon M.-dec) Kuhns, Lima; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles W. (Joey Ann) Wakefield, Fred Gibson John-dec (Nancy) Wakefield.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Michelle Elise Henry.

Dan retired in 2013, after 30 years of service with Benjamin Steel Company, where he worked as plant superintendent and operations manager. He attended the Shawnee United Methodist Church and was instrumental in the forming of the annual "Blessing of the Bikes". A 1965 graduate of Shawnee High School, Dan was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served on the Ft. Shawnee Township Council for 25 years. He was a member of the Lima Harley Club and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie # 691, Wapakoneta. Dan enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing and target shooting. His family and friends knew him as a very selfless, kind and loving man.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 7, 2023 at the Shawnee United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. Lori Reiber officiating. Burial is to follow in the Shawnee Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445. The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m., until time of the service, Monday, August 7, at the church.
