Obituary

Daniel Yahot Dulay left us to be with his lord and savior Jesus Christ on October 13, 2023. Daniel was born on April 16, 1953, to his parents Daniel and Andresa Dulay in Delano, California where he lived out most of his life. After graduating from Delano High School, he married Paulette Apilado in 1974 and joined the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Wyoming and served as a missile engineer mechanic for 2 years. Their eldest daughter Demetria was born in 1976, while they were in Wyoming. After his service was completed with the Air Force, they moved back to California and had their second daughter Tryna in 1978. In 1981, Daniel and Paula divorced, but remained friends.

Daniel worked numerous jobs to support his two daughters as a single parent and even earned his associate degree at the College of the Sequoias. In 1987, he began his career as a Corrections Officer. In 1993, he married Anita Sinco. He was a great husband and stepfather to Michelle, John and Julian Kerchner, Sonya Chavez, and Angela Gonzalez. In 1995, Daniel and Anita had their daughter Daniella. In 2002, they got divorced, but have always stayed friends ever since.

Daniel's career as a Corrections Officer began at Tehachapi State Prison where he was placed for 2 years. In 1989, he transferred to Corcoran State Prison, where he worked until 1993. He got his final transfer to North Kern State Prison and worked until his retirement in May of 2010. In 2015, he reunited with his first love Paula. They moved back into an apartment together in 2020. He lived his life with his companion Paula until his last day.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents - Daniel and Andressa and his sister Teresita. He leaves behind Paula, his three children - Demetria, Tryna, and Daniella; 8 grandchildren - Jade, Tre, Kyson, Joey, Alexie, Shailyn, Emma and Jeremy; 6 great grandchildren - Kylo, Jolyne, Kalum, Ava, Olivia, and Zuko; 5 stepchildren - Michelle, John, Sonya, Julien and Angela; 6 step-grandchildren - JJ, Noah, Devyon, Miles, Aneeka, and Leeyha. His nephew Peter, his 3 children Dorian, Isabella, and Sophia; and nieces Marisa and Deanna. He also leaves his two son-in laws - Jason and Joe.

Daniel was a great man and he loved being around people. He always shined his love for Jesus in his smile and heart. He made people feel welcomed and cared about and lifted everyone up in prayer and his humor. He always put God first and was the family's spiritual leader. Daniel's favorite scripture was John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"
