Daniel Dulny Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 11 to Jul. 13, 2017.
Dulny, Daniel

Daniel (Dan) Dulny passed away July 7 after a short battle with cancer. Born in 1936 in Dupont, PA., he was predeceased by his beloved wife Bernice (Bee). He was also the last of eight siblings. He is survived by his daughter Danette and son-in-law Kirk Davis and his son Chris and daughter-in-law Stacey and his grandchildren Bryan and Kate.

He served his country on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid. After marriage he and Bee ventured north to what was then known as the "valley of opportunity," eventually landing a job at GAF in Johnson City, where he worked for over 25 years.

An avid hunter/outdoorsman, he lived in Binghamton's first ward for over 50 years. His gardens were prolific as he happily gave away most of his tomatoes, squash, beans, etc. to his family and friends, or to just about anybody who asked.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the "first shift" at the Downs Ave Tavern, where Dan had many good times. It was good to know that he had a place nearby where he could laugh and have friendly arguments about the Mets and Yankees (he was the minority Mets fan).

Donations in his memory may be made to either of his favorite charities, the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Make a Wish foundation. He did not wish for a funeral or memorial service.

I am so sorry for the loss of Danny. He was a kind soul that I was lucky enough to get to know through my father and the Downs Tavern. For 2 years he won one of the blankets my mom and I made for a fundraiser and I was happy to deliver mine to him this past month when he won. He was beyond happy. He will be missed dearly. Til we meet again Danny!
