DANIEL ELMER GINTHER August 2nd, 1957 February 16th, 2010 On January 16th, 2010, Dan was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer that took his life in one short month. Dan Ganch was an incredible person who faced life and death, head on! He was generous, humorous, kind and courageous. He did things, his way and strived to never knowingly perpetrate an unkind act toward anyone. He spent the past 10 1/2 years with the love of his life, Jodine Ginther Rodway. They were married August 1st, 2009 on Vancouver Island. Mourning his loss as well as Jodine, are his daughters, Erin Ginther and Danielle (Scot) Williams; grandchildren, Carson and Cayden Gauthier and Joseph and Piper Williams; his mother, Marlene Ginther (Chuck Williams); sister, Raelene (Lew) Neher; brother, Scott (Debra) Ginther; in-laws, Bill and Donna Rodway; Robin (Rob) Black, Cindy (John) Shepherd and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends. He was predeceased by his father, Elmer; brother, Kim and sister, Shelley Pocock. Born in Rosetown, his family lived in various Saskatchewan towns but Dan grew up in Elfros and Hanley. St. Benedict was home for the past ten years. Dan was employed in the mining industry for 34 years and worked at Cameco, McArthur River Project until his death. Dan chose to spend his final days at home with family and friends. Jodine, Danielle, Erin and Robin ensured he was cared for with compassion in a professional way. He was constantly surrounded by family, friends, co-workers and neighbours. He kept everyone entertained until his final hour. Dan taught us all so much about living and dying. We are all comforted by the guidance and memories he has left behind. He cherished the gift of time he was given to prepare everyone for what lies ahead. We know he is now in a better place. Thanks to all of the doctors, home care and palliative care teams, who assisted throughout, and also to the many who provided so many acts of kindness these last few weeks. A Celebration of Dan's life will be held on Sunday, February 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall #63 (17th Street West and Spadina Cres. West) There will be a service followed by a social gathering. Memorial donations may be made to any children's charity or a charity of choice.
