Daniel Halligan Obituary
Danny was the husband of Deborah Gallagher Halligan for the past 42years, father of Melissa Halligan Oliver and Seann Patrick Halligan, son of Floyd Halligan and the late Jeanne Dugas Halligan, Son-in-law of John "Bubby" Gallagher and the late Elaine Gallagher, brother of Rachelle Halligan Livaudais, Father-in-law of John Oliver Jr. and Virginia Lanson Halligan, Grandfather of Johnny and Emily Oliver and Bennett and Liam Daniel Halligan, Brother in law of John and Marlean Gallagher and Kenneth Livaudais. Danny is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Danny was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will surely be missed. He was a 1967 graduate of Redemptorist High School and a Vietnam veteran. He was an Officer of the Irish Channel Corner Club, a member of the AICPA chapter of CPA's, LA state chapter of CPA's and the local chapter of CPA's. He was a CCD religion instructor at St. Ann School and part of a Rosary group with fellow St. Ann parishioners. He was also an avid LSU fan.
Relatives and friends of the family, along with officers and members of the Corner Club, Phoenix Safety and Logistics Inc., & Krebs LaSalle and Lemeaux Engineering, are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home , 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, LA on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. Then on Thursday March 21, 2013 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3601 Transcontinental Dr. Metairie, LA 70006, there will be visitation from 10:00am until Noon followed by Funeral Mass. After mass, interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, masses or contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.

Danny, I am so sorry to find of your recent passing. We were friends from the Irish Channel who were never really that far from our childhood roots, but somehow failed to continue our friendship over the years. I did hear from you some years back and was happy to know that you had your hobby, short wave radio, and had used it for years to stay current and to help many people find their way during difficult times. I was also glad to hear that you had married Debbie Gallagher a wonderful girl also from our childhood rearing area. It is so nice to see you with your wonderful family and it appears many of your friends who you were able to stay in contact with. I send my deepest sympathies to your spouse, Deborah and your entire family. I wish the world were more today like it was when we grew up. I grew up thinking I was a poor kid, but now I realize how truly fortunate we were to have been born and raised in the 50's,60's , and 70's. I would move back to the channel, Annunciation St. or Phillip St. today if it were anything like it usedmto be. May you be eternally in Gods hands and service.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have experienced the sting of an unexpected death. I do know that there are absolutely no words to relieve or ease the pain of that loss. Since my father died, I viewed mr danny as the "father" in my life, so in a way I feel as if I have lost a father....again.
I want to thank mr Danny for showing his son how to be an amazing husband and father through his example. I pray my boys grow up to be just like him- loving, appreciative, humble, Christian, and hard-working. Mr Danny had such a pure heart which is rare in this world.
I mourn for all the experiences that he will never be a part of, and 'why' will always linger in my heart. For now, I will pray for acceptance and peace while knowing that the world will never be as bright as when Mr Danny lit it up.

Dear Deb, I know you must feel completely overwhelmed by Danny's death....as many of us do. I'm sure your children and grandchildren are trying to comfort you as you want to comfort them. Some things are just impossible.
