DANIEL HENTOSZ Obituary
Age 42, of Upper St. Clair, suddenly and unexpectedly in the early evening hours of Friday, November 27, 2009 en route to attend the Pitt-WVU football game with his son. Beloved husband and best friend of Brenda Lynn (Close) Hentosz. Devoted and dedicated father of Carissa, Danny, Breanna and Angelina Hentosz. Youngest brother of Anthony, John (Cindy) and Teresa Hentosz. Son-in-law of Jerry and Ann Close and brother-in-law of Jerry (Kim) Close Jr. Also survived by nephews Michael, John, and Jerry III, nieces Ashlee, Jerrica, Shelby and Delaney, aunts, uncles and many cousins. He was preceded in death by parents Walter and Theresa Hentosz. Dan was a graduate of Chartiers Valley High School and the University of Pittsburgh. He was employed by CVS Caremark. Dan was a member of the Iron City Chapter of PIAA Officials and was a youth football and wrestling coach for Upper St. Clair School District. He was an elected member of the Upper St. Clair Democratic Committee. Dan's greatest passion was for life and laughter, and a true commitment to helping others. He was devoted to youth sports and was an avid sports fan. Dan's enduring love and pride in core family values, his unconditional love for his family and his generous heart will be deeply missed by his family and friends. All who truly knew him will remember him as a loyal, loving husband, dedicated father, great brother and wonderful true friend who was a strong-willed and admirable hero. Brenda, I am so sorry for your loss. My God, what a shock. We haven't spoken for years but just know that Dan sticks out in my head as one of the nicest guys in high school and especially nice to me. No secret that band geeks like me were frowned upon at times (chuckle here) but Dan overlooked that and was really kind to me. Sure, that was 20+ years ago, but I have never forgotten his kindness. I worked a few summers as an intern at CVS/Caremark while in college and I had the pleasure of working with Dan. He was a great co-worker and mentor who really enjoyed life. My deepest condolences to the Hentosz family. Danny and I were classmates at SS. Simon and Jude School. Danny was thoughtful, kind, generous, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He frequently had the class in stitches, and really gave Sister Angela a run for her money. Danny was one of those kids, who at ten years old, already had the makings of doting father, devoted husband, and loyal son and brother.

I had the pleasure of sharing Dan’s friendship, his passion for football and wrestling and his unique sense of humor. His untimely and tragic passing is a hard felt loss for my family, the whole USC community and of course you. We had the pleasure of Dan coaching Austin in both football and wrestling. I will always be thankful for the five seasons that Dan served as my sons' youth wrestling coach; Dan had high expectations for his athletes and always coached with great enthusiasm and spirit. Most importantly, he understood the value of youth athletics and how teach the sport while building the athlete. My boys greatly respected Dan and learned much from him. The same qualities Danny displayed so young as a friend obviously served him well as a brother, husband and father. I will always cherish the memories of us riding bikes, swimming in the Hentosz pool, sleeping out on the back porch and playing sports. One of my fondest memories of Danny was one day at our house and my mom asked him if he wanted to stay for dinner. Danny always like to eat! Danny said "no thanks, I have to pick up Brenda". 5 minutes later he had left. We could both tell at that time how crazy he was about Brenda. That was at least 20 years ago. The road of life has taken us down different paths but I know my old friend will always be nearby. Godspeed old friend!

I was a freshman at CV when Dan was a Senior. We rode the same activity bus home after wrestling practice. He treated me as one of the guys and as an equal. I enjoyed his easy going company. I will remember him for his generosity of time and energy and commitment to helping others. At a time like this, the one thing that brought me together with Dan - politics - seems so trivial and unimportant to me, but even through that small part of our lives, I learned about Dan's interest in work, in youth wrestling, Pitt athletics, community, and most importantly, family. Dan was a man for all seasons, and I was terribly sad to hear of his passing. I will miss Dan, but I'm glad to have had a little time to know him. I had the privlidge of officiating football with Danny. He truly was one of the most fun people to be around . He loved life and his family and was truly a great guy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Brenda and family,
I am sorry for your loss. It's been a long while since we've gotten together, and our communications over the last 15 or so years has only been through Christmas mailings and SRFL football, but it seems like yesterday when we were all young couples having fun in grand ol' Aiken, SC. I'll always have fond memories of you and Dan, and based on everything I have kept up on, Dan ended up being the great family man we always talked about wanting to be.
Stay strong - you have many family and friends (local and afar) that will be there to assist during this part of your journey.

I had the opportunity to work with Dan on a few projects and interact with him is a few meetings. I was impressed with his sincere interest in me as an individual beyond the daily grind of work interactions. I am deeply sorry for your loss, our loss.

I had the pleasure of working with Dan for a short time on a project over the summer with CVS/Caremark. I never met him face to face however his support and fun attitude made for an enjoyable time. He will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
