Daniel R. Herb

DANIEL R. HERB passed away May 20, 2002 at his home on Deakin St. in Berkeley after a long illness. He was born in Berkeley in 1909 and was an accountant and tax preparer with offices in the Montclair District before retiring. His wife Dorothy of 63 years, passed away in 1996. Dan was a long time Elder at St. John's Presbyterian Church in Berkeley and was also active in the First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley for the last 16 years. Dan resided in Berkeley for 52 years and was active in The Oakland El Toro Yacht Association and over the years won many racing awards in the small yacht that he built. His hobby was wood carving and be carved nine full sized ducks in exact size and color. He taught ceramic classes at the Berkeley Senior Center on College Ave. Interment took place on May 29, 2002 at Sunset View Cemetery, El Cerrito, Ca. He is survived by nieces Lola and Patricia Bredehoft of Berkeley, nephew Robert Bredehoft of Berkeley and nieces Marcia Holmes of Oakland and Diane Samsel of St. Louis, Mo. and Evelyn Dwyer of Emerald Hills, CA. Friends and Family are invited to attend Memorial Services Thursday, June 20, at 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church, 2407 Dana St., Berkeley.
