DANIEL R. HOYT PALM BAY Daniel R. Hoyt, Professor Emer itus of Management at Arkansas State University of 25 years, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at his home in Palm Bay, FL. Born on May 20, 1943, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sara; two daughters and son-in- laws, Michael and Judith Danielle (Hoyt) Straub of India lantic, FL and Justin and Audrey Elizabeth (Hoyt) Darnell of Olive Branch, MS; his first grandson, Daniel Ray that will arrive in two weeks; his father, Rexford Hoyt of Joplin, MO; three brothers, Roger Hoyt of Kansas City, MO, Kenneth Hoyt of Arlington, TX and Howard Hoyt of Lees Sum mit, MO and one sister, Shelly Kneeland of Webb CIty, MO. He was preceded in death by his mother, Oletha Belle Hoyt. Dr. Hoyt recieved the out standing faculty member award in teaching, research and serv ice in 1984. National and inter nationally, he was very active in the Society of Human Re sources Management where he served a two-year term as Vice President of personnel re search, a 12-year term on the Board of Directors of the HRM Foundation, and two years as president of that foundation. In 2001, Dr. Hoyt was the first to receive the Jim Wilkins Life time Achievement Award from the Arkansas State Council of SHRM. Dr. Hoyt also was a visiting professor for five different terms at the China Europe Internation al Business School in Shanghai, China. This school funded by the city of Shanghai and the Eu ropean Union as a joint venture provided a western style MBA program for Chinese Nationals. Dr. Hoyt taught HR Manage ment, Career Development, and Management Development among other courses at CEIBS. In 2004, he was the first foreign national professor invited to ad dess 1200 HR professionals at the National Chinese Confer ence on the subject of leader ship. Dr. Hoyt received his Eagle Scout in 1953 and graduated from Joplin High School, Joplin, MO, in 1961. He received his Associate of Science Degree from Missouri Southern State University, Joplin, MO. He re ceived his Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics with a mi nor in Management with honors from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1965. His MBA from the University of Memphis in 1968 and his Ph.D in Industri al Organization and Regulated Industries and a formal minor in Human Resources Manage ment from the University of Ne braska in 1976. After retiring to FL, he contin ued to teach at Webster Univer sity, Space Coast Campuses. Dr. Hoyt loved teaching and helping students develop their talents to be successful in to days global business world. He was an active member in the Chrjst United Methodist Church in Palm Bay, FL where he was the Treasurer. Memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Palm Bay, FL at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2007. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be given to the Dan Hoyt Human Resources Manage ment Scholarship or the Hoyt International Business Schol arship at Arkansas State Uni versity Foundation.

Dan was a personal friend and professional compatriot at Webster University's Graduate School of Business, and his instructional expertise, passion for education, and sterling character will be greatly missed at this institution. May the Lord bless and keep all of his family and friends in this time of great sorrow.
