Daniel James Leary

Daniel James Leary passed away on April 14, 2022 at the age of 94. Born in Lackawanna, NY in 1927, Daniel's sharp intelligence was discovered and nurtured by his high school Jesuit teachers, for which he was always appreciative. After serving in WWII Daniel returned home and earned his PhD. Moving to Manhattan, he found his home as a professor of English literature at City College of NY. He taught modern drama and was an internationally respected scholar of George Bernard Shaw. Daniel continued his critical writing on Shaw well into his 90s and was working on a new idea when he died. Daniel was married to Judith Jobin until her death in 2011, after which he devoted his remaining years to Judith's sister Kate Sorenson (husband Walt) and brother Dennis Jobin.
