Daniel Francis Madden

I write this as a memorial to my husband "Dan the Man" as we approach the 3-year mark from when he passed away. Dan was the loving father of Shawn with his wife Chelsea, and our son Corey. He was the son of Mary and Gerry, the brother of John with his wife Patty Ann, Rosey, Annie with her husband Michael, and uncle to Jeremy, Jena and Mickey. Family was important to Dan, and he thought of his cousin Jim as a brother. He also embraced my family as if they were his own.

Dan graduated Fairleigh Dickenson University with a degree in accounting, but decided he would follow a different path. He had an interest in construction and became a master craftsman. He left behind a legacy of beautiful homes, bonds with the families that live in them, and an empty hole in so many hearts of the people who he worked with and came in contact with on a daily basis.

He was a good friend to business colleagues and to many, became that "Go to Guy" if you needed a helping hand. With his funky suspenders, many times he was mistaken to be an employee of Home Depot and when approached, would always help those that needed it.

He was known to enjoy a Long Island Iced Tea or 2 and was a fabulous storyteller with his Irish gift of gab. His stories covered a wide range of his experiences, and he could keep us entertained for hours. Dan had an incredible ability to relate to people on a very personal level, and they would tell him the most intimate kinds of things about what was going on in their lives.

He had a passion for travelling and cherished that friendship and bond with Teri and Eli.

Our friendship and love spanned 41 years, and I miss him daily. We are all better for having Dan in our lives, but he was taken from us far too early. We share our memories with tears, but there is also laughter as well.

He will be forever in my heart, Marcy.
