Racine- Mr. Daniel E. Martell, 92, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center. Daniel was born in Gentilly, MN to the late Henry and Celina (nee: Amiot) Martell on May 30, 1919. He then moved to Racine in 1965 and was united in marriage to Barbara Ann (nee: Prott) on May 28, 1969. He was employed at Racine Steel until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, spending time with his family. Most of all, he loved all his children and grandchildren. Daniel will be dearly missed by his wife, Barbara; nine children, Charlotte (Jim) McDonald, Steve (Brenda) Martell, Marie (Jim) Clement, Linda (Bob) Schmidt, Jim (Cheryl) Martell, Merle (Jacquie) Martell, Karen Martell, Angie (Dan) Watkins, and Bonnie Lazarevich; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, a sister, Ellen Scully, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis Martell, Benedict Martell; a brother-in-law, Robert Scully; and a son-in-law, Marvin Jipson. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Richard's Catholic Church (1509 Grand Ave) on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 10:00am with Fr. Ron Gramza officiating. Entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery on Hwy. 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 5:00-7:00pm and Monday at the church from 9:00am until the time of service.
