Daniel F. Mielcarek

MIELCAREK Daniel F. Daniel F. Mielcarek of Point Place, age 83, died on Thursday, September 7, 2006, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, Daniel was born on December 1, 1922, the son of Frank and Stella Mielcarek. He graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes grade school and Macomber High School in 1941 and joined the Navy in October 1942, where he became a naval aviator. Daniel attended pre-flight at Ohio Wesleyan, Iowa University and Indiana State University. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant J.G. and piloted B-24's and PBY's during WW II. He worked as a Time Keeper at the former Electric Auto Lite, was a self employed painting contractor and also worked for Karl Buss Painting Co. and Charles F. Mann Painting Co. from where he retired. Daniel was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church since 1950, a member of West Toledo Council # 3122 Knights of Columbus and 4th degree Knights of Columbus as well as Honor Guard. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and son, Gerald T. Mielcarek; sister, Evelyn Operacz and brother-in-law, Frank Radecki and sister-in-law, Bettie Radecki. He married Esther (Radecki) on June 21, 1947, in St. Hedwig's Catholic Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Esther; daughter, Janelle A. (David) Stevens of Temperance, MI; sons, Daniel (Patricia) Mielcarek of Chester, New York, Joseph Mielcarek and Mark (Brenda) Mielcarek both of Toledo. He is the grandfather of Stacy Stevens Presley, Kristie Stevens and Carrie Streight, Jason, Brett, Bill, Joey, Alisha and Ashley Mielcarek. Also surviving are two great-grandsons, Christian A. Presley and David A. Presley; 2 great-granddaughters, Kailey and Rylin Streight; sisters, Lucille (Al) Paszcaykowski and Carol (Stanley) Konieczka; brothers-in-law, Leonard Radecki of Grand Rapids, MI, Rev. Albin A. Radecki, Chester Radecki both of Toledo and Ret. Commander Richard Radecki of Fountain Valley, CA; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Radecki, Florence Radecki, Mary Radecki, Helen Szteiter and Emilie Callahan. Family will receive visitors in the David R. Jasin Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit Street, (419.726.1583) on Saturday, September 9, 2006, from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday, September 10, 2006, from 2-8 p.m. A combined 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus service and Rosary will be held on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. Funeral services will start in the funeral home on Monday, September 11, 2006, with prayers at 9:30 a.m. before proceeding to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with Fr.
