Daniel Monroe Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 5 to Jun. 6, 2021.
Daniel Monroe
Martinez, Georgia—Daniel (Dan) Mitchell Monroe, at age 50, passed away on June 3, 2021, after a short battle with cancer.
Dan was born in Augusta, Georgia and made his life in Evans, Georgia, where he graduated Evans High and attended college at Lees-McRae University and Clemson University.
Dan loved his family and his many wonderful friends. They will miss his quick wit, his kindness, and his vast knowledge of sports trivia. His main passion was his beloved Clemson Tigers. Dan and his father, Joe, traveled to watch Clemson football every season (before they were even National Champions!), a tradition he continued with his son, Wyatt.
Dan understood the positive effects sports have on youth. He celebrated the athletic achievements of those dear to him – Wyatt making a block on the IMG football field, Savannah celebrating her first Hole-in-One and Avery scoring a basket for Augusta Christian. He built wonderful friendships through his coaching for Georgia Fusion, AAU Basketball, and Augusta Christian Basketball.
Dan's family is extremely grateful for the support given to him by his employers, Newbold Services and Bridgestone Tire. It meant the world to Dan how much his work crew supported him and kept him going over the last few months.
Dan was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Rhoden Monroe and is survived by his children Wyatt Monroe, Avery and Savannah Evans. Also survived by Jennifer Evans, his father and stepmother Joseph and Donna Monroe, sisters Connie Levy (Tom) and Cindy Alexander (JD).
A service to celebrate his life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Augusta in the Storey Chapel on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m prior to the service.
Friends may make a memorial contribution to Augusta Christian Academy Basketball Program or send flowers to the First Baptist Church of Augusta.

We sat in front of Dan at the Clemson home football games. We so enjoyed talking with him and Wyatt, and we soon became friends. It just hasn´t been the same without Dan and Wyatt. What a loss to all of us!

I am still in shock from receiving the news - very sad news indeed. Fond memories of us growing up together in Silver Lake years ago years ago, living w/ him and his family for a short stint in late 80s, and playing golf together in our 20s & 30s. I loved his quick wit, jokes and terrific sense of humor- he always had me laughing. The Monroe and Bohling families have been intertwined in close friendship for more than 40 years now. RIP, Dan! God Speed, brother! Wania & I send our heart felt condolences to his family and friends.

I know Dan from Augusta Christian basketball. Dan always had a smile on his face and never neglected to tell the boys how proud he was of them! He was also the “support coach”! When the boys were frustrated, confused, or upset Dan was the Man to talk them through it. He would walk with them, listen, and support them while they calmed back down. You will be missed Dan! We love you and we will do our best to take care of your family.
