In Loving Memory - Daniel Anthony Roth

Daniel Anthony Roth, 63, of San Tan Valley, Arizona, passed away on July 1, 2025, after a courageous battle with liver cancer.

Born on March 1, 1962, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Dan was the beloved son of Alice and the late Raymond Roth. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1980 to 1986 as a Nuclear Reactor Operator aboard submarines. Following his service, he pursued his education at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, continuing a lifelong commitment to learning, technology, and innovation.

In 1989, Dan married Jelane Johnson, and together they shared 35 and a half years of love, laughter, and adventure. Their life together was filled with the companionship of nieces and nephews, beloved pets, pinball machines, Lego creations, Star Wars marathons, comic book movies, and the kind of inside jokes and humor that made their home uniquely theirs.

Dan was a builder at heart. From designing and building computers to restoring pinball machines, from model airplanes to 3-D printing, he delighted in bringing ideas to life. He was an avid pinball enthusiast, participating in the Arizona Pinball Player's League and online communities, and took pride in the many machines he collected and restored. He also shared his gifts generously: coaching Lego Robotics teams with his brother Mitchell in Ohio, leading students all the way to state competitions, and serving as a devoted Host Dad to five foreign exchange students from Spain, Norway, Italy, Germany, and Austria. His warmth, patience, and humor made him a beloved uncle and a steady presence for his extended family. A lifelong animal lover, Dan fostered and raised many dogs and cats, each one welcomed into his home with unconditional care.

Dan is survived by his wife, Jelane Johnson; his mother, Alice Roth; his siblings, Mitchell Roth and Jennifer Scheve; and his faithful dog Cookie and cats Pyro and R2. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Roth and multiple beloved animal companions.

A private service will be held at a later date. The family asks that friends honor Dan's memory by remembering the joy he found in building, teaching, and caring for others.

Dan was a great man and I am honored to have known him. Him and Jelane have been so welcoming to me and I will never forget the multiple visits to their house to hangout, swim, play pinball and make sweets. I also would visit during Halloween and Christmas to see the lights and even bring my siblings with. He will be dearly missed and I send all my love and thoughts to Jelane and the family.
