Malcolm ‘Corky’ Maxwell of Downingtown Malcolm “Corky” Maxwell, 70, of Downingtown, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at his home. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Lloyd R. Sr. and Carolyn Coen Maxwell. Following his mother’s death, Corky was lovingly raised by Caroline Logan Maxwell. Corky proudly served his Country at the Naval War College during the Vietnam era. He attended Villanova University and the University of Miami, and received his degree in business from Fisher College in Massachusetts. Corky was blessed with a gift to build relationships with people, which he leveraged in his career as a sales professional; and he was a friend to many. Corky loved the game of golf and was a former PGA of America club professional. He played with enthusiasm and a competitive spirit until his stroke in 2008. Corky was a loving father and brother and a very proud grandfather. Corky is survived by his daughter, Karen Maxwell Powell and her husband Jason; three brothers, Lloyd R. Maxwell, Jr., Sandy Maxwell and his wife Deborah and Scot Maxwell and his wife Kimberly; a sister, Parmie Battin and her husband John; three grandchildren, Elisabeth, Caroline and Madeleine Powell and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Craig A. Maxwell. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 24, 2015 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown. Family and friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
