Daniel Howell Stegeman

Daniel Howell Stegeman, 64, of Anderson Township, Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2023, after a long battle with diabetes and Parkinson's disease. He was born in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky to Joan (nee Smith) Makras and A. Vinton Stegeman III on March 11, 1958. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Karen (nee Zimmer); three wonderful children, Alexander (Grace) Stegeman, Shannon (Jacob) Webster, and Rebecca Stegeman; mother, Joan; brother, Mark Makras; grandchildren Brooklyn and Dylan Webster, Peyton and Myles Turner, and Nora Stegeman; as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved dog, Zoey. Dan was predeceased by his father, Vee; brother, Christian Stegeman; and grandparents Rose and Morris Smith, and Fritzi and A. Vinton Stegeman Jr.

Dan prided himself on his 26 years as an Inspector for the Ohio Department of Transportation. His family could not get in the car without him talking about how he walked every mile of every State route and highway within the District 8 area. Anyone who knew Dan would agree that he was a fighter. In his early years, most of his fighting was done in the dojo, where he earned a second degree blackbelt in Taekwondo. As the years passed, the physical fighting turned into Dan's favorite pastime, arguing politics. He eventually ended his fight after a long battle with multiple illnesses.

A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Newport, Kentucky, on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of life.
