Daniel Sutton Obituary

Daniel James Sutton Sr., a local bartender and longtime resident of the area, died Monday, January 16, 2006 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 64.

The son of the late Nathaniel James Sutton Sr. & Aretha Curry Sutton, he was born August 1, 1941 in Trenton, Fla.

Danny worked for many years at the Concord Resort Hotel, Villa Roma & Holiday Mountain Ski Area as a bartender and was a former member of the BPO Elk's Lodge #1544, Monticello. He also served in the United States Army from 1963-1965.

He is survived by his three sons: Eddie James Sutton of Monticello, Daniel James Sutton Jr. of Yorktown and David James Sutton of Monticello; two daughters: Mildred Sutton of Tampa, Fla. and Tonya Sutton of Omaha, Neb.; his former wife: Rose Marie DiGirolamo of Cuddebackville; two grandchildren; two brothers: John L. Sutton of Sebring, Fla. and Nathaniel J. Sutton Jr. of Monticello, Fla.; two sisters: Louise Blue of Geneva and Earline Tuff of Miami, Fla.; a half-sister: Dora Williams of Orlando, Fla.; several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 21 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 15 St. John Street in Monticello. Pastor Steven B. Tate will officiate.

Burial with military honors will be held in the Sullivan Co. Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Monticello Housing Authority Youth Program, 76 Evergreen Drive, Monticello, NY 12701.

To family of Danny,



I have sympathy for your loss. I watched Danny and Rose raise you guys to be respectful, courteous, young men, and i know its hard now, but your strong, and your gonna make it through this tough time. I as well as everyone else in our neighborhood knows how geatly your father was respected, and will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Sutton family. I worked with Danny for many years at the Concord, he was the greatest man you ever could meet. He was so proud of his sons he would just light up when he talked about them. I am so sorry for your loss.
